When the comics were in their infancy, much of the subject matter
was social satire taken from the newspaper itself. But this new art
form also found a new and unique sorce for content: fantasy and
science fiction. Included in this book are over 150 fantasy comic
strips from 1900-1915. Included are the complete comic strip work
of Lyonel Feininger Wee Willie Winkie and The Kin-der-Kids, as well
as work by Winsor McCay, George McManus and others. Ground-breaking
work like The Explorigator, Naughty Pete, Nibsy Jungle Imps, Dream
of the Rarebit Fiend plus dozens of fantastical comics by the
greatest fantasy cartoonists of the age. All are lovingly restored
and reproduced in the original size and colors.
