The Hawks And The Sparrows
Featuring Italy's stone-faced clown Toto, as an Everyman who with his empty-headed son, travel the road of life accompanied by a talking crow, who waxes philosophically and amusingly on the passing scene.
Oedipus Rex
Filmed in and around an awesome, 15th century adobe city in the Moroccan desert, Pasolini's version of the Oedipus legend retains the basic elements of Sophocles classic tragedy. A young man, abandoned at birth by his parents, is foretold of his doomed fate by an oracle; nonetheless, he unknowingly murders his father and marries his mother.
Pigsty
Porcile, the story of a cannibal in a medieval wasteland is interwoven with that of a son of an ex-Nazi industrialist in modern day Germany. This strange, grotesque and thought provoking parable is filmed with such a calm beauty and underlying disgust that it gains a deep significance as an attack on the middle classes of the 20th century.
Filmed in black & white in Italian with English subtitles.
