The Salve Regina, also known as the Hail Holy Queen, is a Marian
hymn and one of four Marian antiphons sung at different seasons
within the Christian liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic
Church. This beautiful setting for soprano and piano (originally
strings) was written by Domenico Scarlatti towards the end of his
life in the 18th century and is his only piece of church music
known definitely to date from this period.
