This is the first in a series of mysteries featuring Zack Finn, ex
Navy SEAL now a Boston Homicide Detective. Zack begins a forced
medical leave, the result of burnout from years of dealing with
lowlifes and savage violence. He chooses to recuperate at his
Nantucket Island retreat. Unfortunately, a brutal murder occurs on
the island. The police investigation results in the arrest and
indictment of Roy DaSilva, Zack's best friend and fellow Navy SEAL.
Following the SEAL credo of "No Seal is ever left behind," Zack
plunges forward and seeks the aid of the multi-talented members of
the Pier Group, an historic Nantucket social club. Aided by this
gaggle of eccentric characters, Zack is able to probe areas
conventional law enforcement officers would have difficulty in
penetrating.
