Growing up, I had a desperate need to feel significant, a need that
stayed with me throughout my marriage. After my husband's death, I
went on a search for roots and purpose, and thought I had found
them in New Age and occult doctrines. By the age of 39, I was a
published numerologist, enjoying the novelty of being sought out
for my expertise. That path has long since been abandoned, but
memories still linger of how my vulnerability led me to believe in
a lie that I persuaded others to buy into as well. It was never my
intention to lead anyone astray. I was just sincerely wrong.
