This volume publishes papers from a session at the 15th uispp
congress which examined prehistoric fuel management. Several papers
combine anthracological study with findings from modern
anthropological surveys, whilst there are also two experimental
papers investigating the use of bone as a fuel source, as well as
one offering prehistoric evidence for this possibility. Other
papers review the evidence for the management of wood as a fuel
sources from excavations at Kebara and Hayonim caves in Israel and
from various sites in the south of France.
