1790 and the French Revolution is here. Business sales have
collapsed through the spring and summer and the aristocrats are in
fear of having their heads cut off. Some people are purchasing land
in the northwest territories to move there and escape the
revolution. The land was being sold to help pay the debts of the
American Revolution. The group buying the American land became
known as the "French 500." This story will trace the lives of
Francis Valodin, a reported stowaway, and Pierre Antoine Laforge,
an aristocrat, back to France then on to where they and their
families lived in America. If you have an interest in history and
genealogy you should love this book. This has been a real adventure
for the people who contributed to its writing as there were so many
discoveries, many of which we never dreamed we would find. Many of
the pages are copies of the original emails which is unique because
the reader can feel the emotions of the writers as they communicate
their thoughts with their co-workers. There are new discoveries
with the POCAHONTAS genealogy found in the Barnett Family and
Pocahontas Sections of this book.
