nations--Nigeria, Austria, Japan, India, the Netherlands,
Yugoslavia, and the United States--the authors examine the
relationship between social, economic, and educational factors and
political participation. They define four common types of political
participation: campaigning activity, voting activity, communal
activity, and particularized contact.
