provides the reader with the various hypotheses used to explain
population dynamics: Part I contains a review and appraisal of
population theories since Malthus. Part II presents a theoretical
framework for the economic analysis of demography. The book
contends that it is possible to develop a general theory of
population dynamics which explains both long- and shortrun
demographic phenomena.
