Hurricane Kieron and Rush Around Rita are two madcap siblings, who
run wildly, and often aimlessly around the house, the garden, the
park. They love running, until one day Kieron falls over and hurts
his knee and has to turn his attention to something other than
running. He discovers other ways of making a hurricane - this time
with paper and paints, and soon Ria joins in. This is a colourful,
exciting and busy book. The juxtaposition of words such as
'wheeeeee' 'Aaaargh' 'chomp, chomp' 'yow, yow' throughout the
pictures gives such a sense of action it almost leaves you
breathless and Ayliffe's wonderful illustrations just add to the
excitement. These are BUSY kids! A good book to share with your
active children and a nice way to suggest to them that they might
sit down and do something quiet for a change! (Kirkus UK)
They went zzzzooooommm, zigga zigga, yow, yow, yow, wheeeeeeee all
day long. And they didn't stop until it was time to go to bed. But
then, one day, Hurricane Kieron fell over and hurt his knee. He
tried to get back up and run but he couldn't. So Hurricane Kieron
had to find something to do that didn't involve rushing around all
the time. He took a paintbrush and some paints and made hurricanes
on paper instead. And when Rusharound Ria saw how much fun he was
having, she decided that maybe she should try sitting still for a
while too...
