In this study the author traces the history of air-ground support
from its infancy to the Korean War, discusses the effectiveness of
close air support throughout the conflict, and addresses why this
mission was controversial for the Army and Air Force. He then
highlights General Weyland's perspective on airpower and his role
in the close-air-support "controversy."
