Our hero - named Omon after the Interior Ministry riot police, and
calling himself Ra after the Egyptian sun god - introduces himself
with a deceptively light and nostalgic narrative as he recalls his
boyhood dreams of being an cosmonaut, his love of the clear blue
sky. As the tale unfolds, however, his life within the Soviet space
programme becomes less and less as he imagined, the programme
itself less and less as it seems. Surreal, ironic and extremely
fast-paced. (Kirkus UK)
