This handbook is a compilation of major clinical trials in all
subspecialties in the field of ophthalmology. Each trial is
presented in a uniform manner, detailing the background and purpose
of the study, design, number of subjects with inclusion and
exclusion criteria, outcomes, then results and conclusions. Topics
include glaucoma, cornea, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular
degeneration, retinal detachment, neuro-ophthalmology, ocular
melanoma, and many more. Trials are arranged chronologically or in
order of significance, with extensive referencing for further
reading. 'At a glance' tables summarising each trial are also
included. The previous edition of this comprehensive text
(9789350907740) published in 2013.
Carbohydrate reserves constitute the major part of edible portion
of the plants. Latest researches in major crops like wheat, rice,
maize, barley, potato, sugarcane, sugarbeet, Jerusalem artichoke,
chicory and carbohydrates in trees have been included in this book.
The book will be of great value to the basic plant biochemists,
molecular biologists, biotechnologists, and genetic crop engineers
and to the agricultural scientists working in different disciplines
related to crop productivity. This compilation may act as a medium
to initiate discussions among these scientists leading to new
researches in the area of crop productivity and reserve
carbohydrate metabolism.
Useful in physics, economics, psychology, and other fields, random matrices play an important role in the study of multivariate statistical methods. Until now, however, most of the material on random matrices could only be found scattered in various statistical journals. Matrix Variate Distributions gathers and systematically presents most of the recent developments in continuous matrix variate distribution theory and includes new results. After a review of the essential background material, the authors investigate the range of matrix variate distributions, including: · matrix variate normal distribution · Wishart distribution · Matrix variate t-distribution · Matrix variate beta distribution · F-distribution · Matrix variate Dirichlet distribution · Matrix quadratic forms With its inclusion of new results, Matrix Variate Distributions promises to stimulate further research and help advance the field of multivariate statistical analysis.

Explore the Health Effects of Fluoride Pollution Fluoride in
Drinking Water: Status, Issues, and Solutions establishes the
negative impacts of naturally occurring fluoride on human health
and considers the depth and scope of fluoride pollution on an
international scale. The book discusses current global water
quality and fluoride-related issues and draws overall awareness to
the problems associated with fluoride in drinking water. Utilizing
recent scientific studies to examine the current status of fluoride
pollution, it provides a fundamental understanding of fluorosis,
describes health problems associated with fluorosis, and discusses
viable scientific solutions. The book places special emphasis on
India, Africa, China, and other countries deeply affected by
fluoride pollution. A single, comprehensive source covering health
issues related to fluoride and its effect on humans, this book:
Compiles information from scientific literature on the state of
fluoride pollution Characterizes the human impacts of fluorosis
Provides a comparative evaluation of technologies used for
defluoridation Gives a comprehensive account of human health
effects with appropriate scientific descriptions and photographs
Includes detailed descriptions on the geochemistry of fluoride
entry into groundwater aquifers Presents a case study that deals
with the successful removal of fluoride from drinking water A vital
resource for environmental and public health officials as well as
academic researchers in the area, Fluoride in Drinking Water:
Status, Issues, and Solutions covers human health issues associated
with fluoride-rich water and describes relevant techniques for
defluoridation that can be used to overcome the stress, issues, and
challenges of natural fluoride in drinking water.
This volume contains the papers from the Sixth Eugene Lukacs
Symposium on ''Multidimensional Statistical Analysis and Random
Matrices'', which was held at the Bowling Green State University,
Ohio, USA, 29--30 March 1996. Multidimensional statistical analysis
and random matrices have been the topics of great research. The
papers presented in this volume discuss many varied aspects of this
all-encompassing topic. In particular, topics covered include
generalized statistical analysis, elliptically contoured
distribution, covariance structure analysis, metric scaling,
detection of outliers, density approximation, and circulant and
band random matrices.

Many interesting and perplexing questions arise in connection with
the highly potassic volcanic associa- tion dominated by mafic and
ultramafic rocks contain- ing leucite. Its occurrence is very
restricted as compar- ed with the olivine-basalt trachyte kindred,
but it is distributed at widely scattered points on all the conti-
nents, and its chemical and petrographic individuality is both
remarkable and constant. A considerable litera- ture is available
related to the mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, phase
chemistry, distribution, and origin of this interesting suite of
rocks. It seemed that there was a genuine need for a
review-synthesis of all these data, which would be intelligible to
a wide spectrum of advanced students and professionals in the earth
sciences. The monograph may be divided into two parts. The first
part consists of six chapters in which the mineralogical and
chemical peculiarities of leucite- bearing rocks and their
nomenclature, petrology, min- eralogy, distribution, and physical
and chemical condi- tions of formation are discussed. Phase
equilibria stud- ies on many leucite-bearing ternary,
pseudoternary, quaternary, and pseudoquaternary joins and systems,
studied by different investigators at variable tempera- tures in
air, are described in the second part in Chap- ters 7 to 12.
Survival of leucite and formation of pseu- doleucite is discussed
in Chapter 13. Leucite-bearing synthetic and natural rock systems
studied at different temperatures under variable pressures in
presence or absence of water, are summarized in Chapters 14 and 15.

The multinational corporate guide for thriving in the Asian
marketplace
Led by China and India, the rise of emerging Asia is
transforming the structure of the global economy. By 2025, if not
sooner, China will almost certainly overtake the U.S. to become the
world's largest economy. By then, India is likely to have overtaken
Japan to become the world's third largest economy, after China and
the U.S. Besides China and India, Asia also includes other
fast-growing economies such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines,
Thailand, and Vietnam. Added together, by 2025, these developments
are likely to make Asia's economy larger than those of the U.S. and
Europe combined.
It is clear that, for every large company, leadership in Asia is
rapidly becoming critical for leadership globally. This important
resource brings together the latest ideas and in-depth case
analyses from leading academics and practitioners to provide a
comprehensive guide to succeeding in Asia.Explores how to develop a
strategy to benefit from new patterns of 21st century tradeExplains
how companies can fight and win against low-cost competition from
Asian companiesShows how to transfer homegrown management practices
to AsiaReveals how to safeguard the company's intellectual property
in ChinaBrings to light how to leverage India as a platform to
revitalize the company's innovation capabilities
A resource for competing in today's international market, this
book offers executives and managers a guide for navigating the new
global reality--that of Asia as the world's emerging center of
gravity.
It will be found most useful as a reference cum text book for
Environment NET, SLET, PMT, CPMT, AFMC, AIIMS, BCECE, JCECE,
EAMCET, MP-PMT, etc. Well illustrated with pertinent diagrams and
tables for a clearer understanding of the subject, it covers all
topics related to the environment and its study.
