This research work examines Heidegger's (1889-1976) contention that
phenomenology can inspire, illuminate, motivate, reinforce and
guide (human) individual's actions. It achieves this by adapting
Heidegger's phenomenological approach to analyze and interpret
representative everyday factical experiences of nepotism,
selfishness and mass mentality in the (Nigerian) society. Doing
this helps to ascertain whether these experiences have any
phenomenological link with inauthenticity. Also, it provides a
close reading and interpretation of Heidegger's treatment of
authentic existence, and explores the possibility of complimenting
it with the phenomenology of Commensality, as a mode of care and a
way to authenticity. In this manner, it strategically explores
possible ways of inspiring individual Daseins to authenticity, and
with it engendering a positive transformation of the (Nigerian)
society. Presenting and elaborating the phenomenology of
Commensality, the work highlights the relationship and the
differences between the phenomenology of Commensality and the
ontical or sociological understanding of commensality as obtained
in African traditional societies. Phenomenology of Commensality
argues for the 'renaissance' of Commensality, concretely expressed
as Onyenkeanyi, and not just for its 'revival'. The research work
further develops the phenomenology of education for Commensality,
discussing the possible content and focus of its curriculum, while
differentiating it from ethics. The proper implementation of
phenomenology of education for Commensality could inspire and
illuminate individual Daseins to authenticity, and thereby becomes
an improvement strategy for the positive transformation of the
(Nigerian) society. As a phenomenology, it is appropriate that the
people and places analyzed take on a definite character, which is
why the Nigerian society is used. However, it is expected that the
implications of the findings presented here will be general and
accurate enough to allow application to any number of similar
situations.

Noor loves her mum, and all the other hijabi women in her family,
but wonders why do they wear headscarves? Is it so they can hide
snacks for later? Or because they're a super spy and hiding their
secret identity? Full of curiousity, Noor sets out to find her
answer, but her family are all busy and have no time to answer this
important question. Just as Noor is ready to give up on her quest,
her Ammu arrives home and knows just the thing to say. This
heart-warming yet funny tale is a celebration of Muslim women,
curious children, and family love.
Sunny and his family have recently moved to a new country in this
evocative story about adjusting to life in a new place. His dad is
struggling to see their new house as home, and Sunny can tell that
he is yearning for his old life, where collared doves cooed in the
soft morning light and swallows swooped in the sunset. So Sunny
comes up with a plan to help his dad find joy in his new home. An
evocative story about belonging from the author of Lubna and
Pebble.
Practitioners are increasingly adopting a personalised medicine
approach to individually tailored patient care, especially disease
diagnosis and treatment with the use of biomarkers. However,
development and implementation of such approaches to chronic
disease prevention need further investigation and concerted efforts
for proper use in healthcare systems. This book provides
high-quality, multidisciplinary knowledge from research in
personalised medicine, specifically personalised prevention of
chronic disease. It addresses different perspectives of prevention
in the field, and is the outcome of a four-year work of the
Personalized prevention of Chronic Disease (PRECeDI) Consortium, a
multi-disciplinary and multi-professional team of experts. The
Consortium jointly agreed to document and address the five aspects
or domains of personalised medicine and prevention as individual
chapters: Identification of biomarkers for the prevention of
chronic disease Evaluation of predictive genomic applications
Ethico-legal and policy issues surrounding personalised medicine
Roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in informing healthy
individuals on their genome: a sociotechnical analysis
Identification of organisational models for the provision of
predictive genomic applications The book focuses on the
Consortium's recommendations that are derived from each of these
domains based on up-to-date evidence and research that the authors
write, follow, and systematically organise and report.
Personalisation of health care is, eventually, a driver of
innovation in research and healthcare systems. With this
SpringerBrief on Personalised Health Care: Fostering Precision
Medicine Advancements for Gaining Population Health Impact, the
Consortium provides further evidence of the clinical validity and
utility of personalised medicine with special emphasis on the
prevention of chronic diseases. The book is a useful resource for
policy makers, industry and healthcare professionals, scientists,
technology-sector professionals, investors, citizens, and private
companies that need proper advice to realise the potential of
personalised medicine.
