This volume makes the novel contribution of applying Nancy Fraser's
concept of progressive neoliberalism to education in order to
illustrate how social justice efforts have been co-opted by
neoliberal forces. As well as recognising the lack of consensus
surrounding the very nature of Fraser's concept of progressive
neoliberalism, the book delivers a diversity of perspectives and
methodological orientations that offer critical and nuanced
examination of the diverse ways in which progressive neoliberalism
has shaped education in North America. Documenting manifestations
of progressive neoliberalism in areas including anti-racist
education, teacher education, STEM, and assessment, the volume uses
qualitative empirical research and critical discourse analysis to
identify emerging tools and strategies to disentangle the
progressive aims of education from neoliberal agendas. Offering a
rarely nuanced treatment of the phenomenon of neoliberalism, this
text will benefit scholars, academics, and students in the fields
of education policy and politics, the sociology of education, and
the philosophy of education more broadly. Those involved with the
theory of education and multicultural education in general will
also benefit from this volume.

This book focuses on the representation of nature in science
education in schools in the United States. Given the importance of
our relationship with the nonhuman world for the fate of our
planet, this work gives special attention to the representation,
instruction, and understanding of the relationship between the
social and the natural world. It also proposes an alternative,
sustainability science-based conceptual framework for ecology and
environmental science topics in science education, which is
compatible with the current social-ecological understanding of life
in the Anthropocene epoch.

This book consists of stories of struggles in science education
presented by a network of science educators working in Australia,
Brazil, Canada, Britain, and the United States. The common goal of
these educators is to produce more socially/ecologically just
models and practices of science education. The book considers and
reworks the key-terms of current social justice: agency, realism,
justice, and power. Its first section explores re-inhabiting
science in the quest for more just worlds including
reterritorializing science within emergent theories of critical
realism, engaging citizens activists with corporate science, and
challenging neoliberalism and the forces that organize (structure)
knowledge. The second section redefines praxis of science education
itself through nuanced explorations of agency, decolonialism, and
justice in ways that emphasize complexity, hybridity, ambivalence,
and contradiction. The stories of this international group capture
individual and collective efforts, motivated by a persistent sense
that science and science education matter for questions of justice.

This text book contains matter that how to conserve the tooth by
using non surgical technique or by preventive method OR by
remineralize the carious lesion. Minimal intervention is not just a
technique it is a philosophy. The future promises further evolution
toward a more primary preventive approach, facilitated by emerging
technologies for diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Even though a
substantial base of evidence supports a minimally invasive approach
to the carious disease. we still need long term evidence based
clinical evaluations to establish the concept of Minimally Invasive

The investigations on biology, seasonal history, nature of damage,
impact of feeding on growth and chemical control of Locastra
muscosalis Walker (Lepidoptera Pyralidae) were carried out in the
Department of Entomology and Apiculture, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University
of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P.) during 1999 to
2002. Among the three hosts tested viz., Pistacia, apple and
poplar, the former was the most preferred followed by apple and
poplar. The eggs of L. muscosalis were oval in shape having a
smooth chorion and white when freshly laid but changed to orange
and finally black. The eggs were laid in groups of 350-600 on the
upper surface of the leaves. The insect was found to pass through
five larval instars. The adults started emerging in the last week
of June, with peak emergence in the first week of July. Adults were
black in colour with a green tinge. The insect had only one
generation in a year. It hibernated as larva inside the cocoons
under the humus. The biology was studied on three hosts viz,
Pistacia, Apple and Poplar. The larvae had similar appearance as
Pistacia when reared on apple and poplar.
Shorttitle There is peculiar similarity between equations of
Einstein, Newton and Archimedes that we get indeterminate form i.e.
0/0, under some conditions. It means at one point the equations
breakdown, it has been pointed out for first time. Also derivation
of Einstein's mass energy equation, which is a basis for atom bomb,
contradicts the law of conservation of matter /energy under various
conditions. Thus generalized equation is derived and applied in
various phenomena. In some nuclear phenomena, Einstein's equation
has not been confirmed. An attempt has been made to answer the
basic question, how first particle of universe was created? What is
the cause of gravitation? These aspects are explained on the basis
of generalized form of equation. Further 2265 years old Archimedes
principle has been generalized, so that it may account for the
eluded factors like shape of body, viscosity, surface tension,
magnitude of medium etc. Also an alternate theory on rising,
falling and floating bodies is developed. Thus this book deals with
basic aspects of science.
The process of photon induced vacancy creation in atomic inner
shell and decay of the vacancy by prompt x-ray emission is called
x-ray fluorescence (XRF). XRF studies have vast applications in the
fields of elemental analysis, nuclear, atomic and molecular
Physics. The book deals with vacancy alignment in atomic inner
shells. As both, the theoretical evaluations and the experimental
findings of alignment, involve photoionization cross-sections at
specific energies, this book therefore, provides a computer program
"LSPICS" to generate L sub-shell photo-ionization cross-sections. A
detailed stress is given on quantum based alignment evaluations and
predominating corrections at energies of experimental interest. On
experimental side, it provides details of XRF set ups including
thorough treatments of each X-ray emission and analysis to remove
the existing ambiguity among different research groups. The book
brings together in-depth discussions of x-ray analysis and quantum
approximations. The book is designed to be of interest to
spectroscopists, Physicists, Biologists, metallurgists,
researchers, upper-level undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate
students in these disciplines.
The presented work details elaborate research work as well as in
soil physics chemistry, biomass production, as well as nutrient
cycling in agroforestry plantations, changes in microbial soils,
and hydrological cycling in municipal effluent irrigated
plantations. The work thus reveals basic economics of raising
effluent irrigated plantations. Data analysis used in this thesis
is both - most pertinent to the planning sciences as well as
advanced. The use of REML and Canonical variates shall draw
attention of all plant / biology researchers.
Glaucoma is a condition of the eye in which the optic nerve is
damaged due to increased fluid pressure in the eye. Left untreated,
the condition may lead to permanent blindness. Optical coherence
tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light
waves to take cross-section pictures of the retina, the
light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye
(geteyesmart.org). OCT is commonly used in the evaluation of
patients with glaucoma. This manual is a concise guide to the use
of OCT for the diagnosis of glaucoma. Beginning with an
introduction to OCT, the book then provides in depth discussion on
its use in glaucoma. Each of the following chapters describes the
use of OCT for analysing associated parts of the eye, including the
optic nerve, retinal nerve and ganglion cell, as well as macular
and anterior segment OCT. The advantages and common pitfalls in OCT
imaging and its interpretation are discussed at length. Key points
