"This book contains besides the two introductory chapters, written
by the project leaders from Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
Bangalore, and TU Clausthal (TUC), Germany, the different areas of
research work done within the INGPAR (Indo-German Partnership in
Advanced Research, founded by DAAD in Germany and UGC in India)
project so far by the Indian and German young researchers. It
offers new perspectives and documents important progress in smart
technologies. I can say without reservation that this book and,
more specifically, the method it espouses will change fundamental
ideas for cutting-edge innovation and disruption in the smart
technology area." - Prof. Dr. Thomas Hanschke, President, TU
Clausthal, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany

will be of particular interest to mining and blasting engineers.
This book provides up-to-date knowledge of the promising field of
Nanobiotechnology with emphasis on the mitigation approaches to
combat plant abiotic stress factors, including drought, salinity,
waterlog, temperature extremes, mineral nutrients, and heavy
metals. These factors adversely affect the growth as well as yield
of crop plants worldwide, especially under the global climate
change. Nanobiotechnology is viewed to revolutionize crop
productivity in future. The chapters discuss the status and
prospects of this cutting-edge technology toward understanding
tolerance mechanisms, including signaling molecules and enzymes
regulation in addition to the applications of Nanobiotechnology to
combat individual abiotic stress factors.
This book presents an overview of the techniques available today
for the removal of fluoride contamination/pollutants/species from
water. Also covered are traditionally applied techniques for the
removal of fluoride pollutants/species, including oxidation,
coagulation-flocculation, and membrane techniques. Recently,
progress has been made on the utility of various nanoparticles for
the extraction of contaminants from water. Fluoride contamination
is affecting water resources quality worldwide as a result of human
activities, such as mining and pesticide use. Due to the high risk
of fluoride exposure, specific water treatment processes are
required to meet more severe water quality standards. A better
understanding of currently available processes is necessary to
develop economical, efficient, and effective methods for fluoride
removal. Fluoride can either be coated, adsorbed using a wide range
of both mineral and organic constituents or can be directly
rejected by membrane processes, such as reverse osmosis and
nanofiltration. Recent developments of submerged hybrid membrane
systems, such as membrane bioreactors in wastewater treatment,
provide alternative technologies for fluoride treatment.Â

This contributed volume is focused on  SDG 3, 6, 7 ,9, 11,
15, and it covers extensive knowledge on damage and loss contexts
of climate change in a developing country. India’s vast
landscape with its diversity of eco-geo-physiography,
socio-cultural, and developmental settings, coupled with climate
change and anthropogenic factors, makes it one of the most
disaster-prone countries of the world and, thus, representing
almost all the disasters and extreme events associated with climate
change, variability, and weather phenomenon. Besides common
hazards, such as heavy rainfall, floods, drought, cyclone and heat
wave, secondary and composite disasters like forest fires and
disease epidemics are also covered with case studies and examples.
Cross-cutting aspects like infrastructure resilience, gender and
social equity concerns, legal and assessment tools, and futuristic
vision have been covered well in the book. Disaster risk reduction,
preparedness, and resilience as central themes of adaptation to
climate change are presented through policy discussions, tools, and
strategic analysis of past and recent lessons. This book is of
common interest to a wider range of readers across policyplanning,
academia, research, and professional practitioners having interest
in adaptation, resilience building and sustainability in developing
countries of the world. Though it is primarily a reference book, it
can also serve as a textbook for university courses and
professional trainings in climate change adaptation, disaster
management, sustainability and strategic management studies.Â

This book introduces readers to co-creation --- a complex,
value-based, context-driven and collaborative effort to develop new
paradigms, products and services to satisfy human wants.
Co-creation is built not only around the perceptions of challenges,
cause-and-effect relationships and constraints, but also around
available alternatives for dealing with or overcoming those
challenges. Co-creation is not about transferring or outsourcing
activities, and neither is it about the customization of products
and services. This book explains the emergence of the co-creation
approach. It describes various models of value creation, as well as
different stages and the contract process involved in co-creation.
It also explores different types of learning and learning
techniques, and how co-creation impacts the learning process. The
book allows practitioners and policymakers to understand the
processes involved in implementing co-creation in any organization,
while also presenting case studies to show how to apply the
relevant concepts in their day-to-day activities.
