Night of the Living Queers is a YA horror anthology that explores a
night when anything is possible, exclusively featuring queer
authors of color putting fresh spins on classic horror tropes and
tales. No matter its name or occasion, Halloween is more than a
Hallmark holiday, it's a symbol of transformation. NIGHT OF THE
LIVING QUEERS is a YA horror anthology that explores how Halloween
can be more than just candies and frights, but a night where
anything is possible. Each short story is told through the lens of
a different BIPOC teen and the Halloween night that changes their
lives forever. Creative, creepy, and queer, this collection brings
fresh terror, heart, and humor to young adult literature.
Contributors include editors Alex Brown and Shelly Page, Kalynn

THE LAST SOUL OF WITHERSPOON takes a "global" approach in its
history of the school. Readers will find this book to be
autobiographical as well as a social history told on three levels.
Herein is a story of a person from Long Shoal in Lee County,
Kentucky, whose childhood innocence collides head-on with
adolescence while a student in the mountain settlement school of
Witherspoon. Readers will find at the end of the story a
battle-scarred but still standing youth, heading off to the next
stage in his life, having gained much in the way of character
development, one who "gave as much as he got."
The second level of the story traces four generations of
families from the Civil War to the 1950s, including their
pedigrees, feuds, and religion.
Also included is a history of Witherspoon College itself, with
an emphasis on benefactors from Brooklyn, New York. The story here
provides a personal contrast of "old-time religion" versus what one
writer has termed "denominational imperialism." Religion is
referenced a great deal, but this is not a religious book.
Queer Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Filipino folklore in this
horror comedy about a high school stage manager who accidentally
sells her soul to a demon. Seven years ago, Cordelia Scott's
abusive father left without a word, and life has been normal ever
since. The seventeen-year-old spends her days stage managing the
school play (which is going great, if anyone asks), pining over her
best friend, Veronica, and failing one too many pop quizzes. She's
never been sad that her father left, but she knows something
is...missing. When her school guidance counselor, Fred, reveals
during a session that he's actually a demon, she learns that
something is indeed missing: a piece of her actual soul. Why? She
unwittingly made a deal with him to make her father disappear -
then bargained to have the memory erased. To make matters worse,
Fred is here to make another bargain: Help him with a "little"
demonic problem, or she's doomed to spend eternity in Hell with her
father. The deal? Help Fred neutralize a rival demon, who means to
do more harm in her hometown than your average demon deal.

Hate speech law can be found throughout the world. But it is also
the subject of numerous principled arguments, both for and against.
These principles invoke a host of morally relevant features (e.g.,
liberty, health, autonomy, security, non-subordination, the absence
of oppression, human dignity, the discovery of truth, the
acquisition of knowledge, self-realization, human excellence, civic
dignity, cultural diversity and choice, recognition of cultural
identity, intercultural dialogue, participation in democratic
self-government, being subject only to legitimate rule) and
practical considerations (e.g., efficacy, the least restrictive
alternative, chilling effects). The book develops and then
critically examines these various principled arguments. It also
attempts to de-homogenize hate speech law into different clusters
of laws/regulations/codes that constrain uses of hate speech, so as
to facilitate a more nuanced examination of the principled
arguments. Finally, it argues that it is morally fitting for
judicial and legislative judgments about the overall warrant of
hate speech law to reflect principled compromise. Principled
compromise is characterized not merely by compromise over matters
of principled concern but also by compromise which is itself
governed by ideals of moral duty or civic virtue (e.g.,
reciprocity, equality, and mutual respect).

This book presents contributions from the Workshop on Rare Isotopes
and Fundamental Symmetries, which was held on September 1922, 2007,
at the Institute for Nuclear Theory at the University of
Washington. The book is the fourth in a series dedicated to
exploring the science important to the proposed Facility for Rare
Isotope Beams (FRIB). The topics covered by the contributions
include Fermi beta decay, electron-neutrino correlations in nuclear
beta decay: precision mass measurements, atomic parity violation,
electric dipole moments, and hadronic parity violation and anapole
moments.
These topics highlight the recent work on the use of nuclei to
understand the fundamental symmetries of nature. It presents
current results as well as proposals for future experiments.
