- The first book to seriously examine the feminine aspect of
Egyptian religion sheds new light on the important role of the
goddess Hathor-Sekhmet.- This accessible study sheds much new light
on ancient Egypt and provides a powerful new perspective on women's
theology.- The text is accompanied by nearly 200 striking and
unusual illustrations Drawing from temple art, myths, rituals, and
poetry, "Hathor Rising" is the first book to seriously examine the
feminine aspect of the complex Egyptian pantheon and to shed new
light on the pivotal place held there by the fiery serpent-eyed
goddess, Hathor-Sekhmet. The primary importance of this goddess is
emphasized by the serpent coiled over the forehead of every
pharaoh--the supreme symbol of royal power in ancient Egypt. The
erotic vitality and fierce aggression of the goddess, qualities
commonly perceived as masculine in nature, gives the reigning
Pharaoh the capacity for dynamic leadership. The author explores
the symbolism behind this and other manifestations of the goddess
in Egyptian cosmology and provides new revelations on the rich
tradition of feminine divinity in Egypt. "Hathor Rising" is the
most important study of one of the world's oldest civilizations to
appear in years.

formal talk with one person face-to-face and on the phone, as well
as how to converse in a group. There are over 30 chapters, each
dealing with an aspect of conversation such as Greetings How to
remember names Being topical, Using humour Reminiscing Repairing

This book explores the pivotal place of the fiery serpent-eye
goddess, Hathor-Sekmet, in the mysteries of Osiris, the Egyptian
god of the dead. Weaving together myths, rituals and temple art, it
recreates the craft world of ancient Memphis, with its
heart-centred religion and vitalising feminine divinities. The
author reveals the rich and complex temple life of New Kingdom
Egypt in a compelling account of the soul's return to primal
origins in the Ancestor Ritual, a little known royal death and
rebirth ceremony."My Heart My Mother" breaks new ground with its
analysis of Egyptian sacred architecture. Seti I's temple at Abydos
is shown to be an image of heaven, built to correspond with the
cosmic 'maps' of living and dying depicted on the remarkable Nut
ceilings in Theban royal tombs. Each part of the Abydos temple is a
focus for transformation in the ancestral rites. Despite great
social changes this heart wisdom continued long after the rule of
Pharaohs ended. The book traces its profound influence in alchemy,
presenting fresh evidence to support the alchemists' own belief in
the Egyptian roots of their tradition.

This book explores ancient Egypt's feminine anointing mysteries and
how these are reflected in both royal art and ritual life. It also
traces their subsequent influence in early Christianity. This means
there are five broad audiences for the book in addition to those
interested in Egyptology, ancient history and archaeology. Religion
-- the book provides new insights in religion and mythology. It
includes a detailed study of the New Year ritual of anointing the
pharaoh , so it will appeal to readers interested in ritual and
ancient mysteries. As a discussion of the oldest known African
religion it is also relevant to black history. Women's Studies --
the book carefully elucidates the place of feminine divinity and
the Egyptian queen in these anointing mysteries. Emphasising the
crucial role of the feminine in Egyptian ritual life, it gives a
new perspective on women's theology and women's history. Early
Christianity -- the book traces the influence of the Egyptian New
Year rites in the Christian anointing mysteries, as recorded both
in the canonical gospels and the alchemically inspired Gospel of
Philip from the Nag Hammadi Library. It is therefore relevant to
readers interested in early Christianity, Christian sacramentalism
and the Nag Hammadi writings. Alchemy and Hermeticism -- the book's
study of the relationship between early Christianity,
Graeco-Egyptian alchemy and Hermeticism will interest those drawn
to early esoteric traditions. Fine Arts -- the book will also
appeal to readers interested in a history, since it gives a high
priority to visual images for understanding Egyptian religion. It
includes many striking colour illustrations, which are closely
Integrated within the text.

This game is designed as a resource to help young people learn to
understand and prepare for work experience, job-seeking, interviews
and coping in the workplace. In particular young people with a
diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum find interviews difficult in the
same way as they may struggle with day-to-day conversations. Many
of the elements of the interactions are similar: greeting
appropriately; making eye contact; using appropriate facial
expression; listening carefully; asking good questions; requesting
clarification, etc. This fun discussion card-based activity
encourages participants to: answer questions; appraise themselves;
decide whether advice suggested is good or bad; and, role-play
situations and interactions using hypothetical scenarios. There are
74 cards and the game can be played by any number of people,
although 4-6 is recommended. It is suitable for people of age 15+.
Intended for use in educational settings and/or therapy contexts
under the supervision of an adult. This is not a toy.
This imaginative and practical book contains a collection of ideas
and games that should provide you with lots of new resources
without spending a fortune. Some of the games and activities
address particular communication themes, such as: listening
techniques; speech sounds; vocabulary building; and friendship
skills, while others cover several areas simultaneously. The book
is organised into chapters according to the major skill area being
addressed, with suggestion for linked items in other chapters. To
add to well-established and structured programmes of therapy that
SLTs use, there are two principles that can make for better
therapeutic outcomes, and on which the book is based: clients often
respond more effectively if they feel that they "own" their therapy
by being involved in making the materials that they will use; and
therapy is improved when it is good fun, and preferably humorous.
You don't need to be a great artist or craftsman to create these
games and activities, or huge quantities of spare time to make most
of the items, especially if you can get organised with equipment
all in one go. There is a basic shopping list to help you get
started. It is a must have for all Speech and Language Therapists.
It is presented in A4 wire-o-bound.
