Gender Equality in a Global Perspective (Paperback): Raili Marling, Anders Ortenblad, Snjezana Vasiljevic Gender Equality in a Global Perspective (Paperback)
Raili Marling, Anders Ortenblad, Snjezana Vasiljevic
R1,504 Discovery Miles 15 040 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Gender Equality in a Global Perspective looks to discuss whether Gender Equality can be adopted as it has been defined in international documents anywhere, or whether it needs to be adapted in a more local context; discuss which factors and perspectives need to be taken into account when adapting Gender Equality to specific contexts; suggest research approaches for studies on whether a universal (Western) concept of Gender Equality fits in certain specific contexts; and finally suggests challenges to the existing interpretation of Gender Equality (e.g., theory of intersectionality); and the development of legal and policy framework. This book is situated within the tradition of comparative gender studies. While most other such books take up and compare various ways of implementing (or not implementing) gender equality, this book studies and compares whether or not (and to what extent) a specific definition of Gender Equality (GE) could be adopted by various nations. Thus, all chapter contributors will engage with the same definition of GE, which will be presented within the book, and discuss the possibilities and constrains related to applying such a definition in their particular national context. The readers will learn about the problems of applying a universal concept of Gender Equality and the possible reasons for and modes of adapting Gender Equality to different contexts. Gender Equality in a Global Perspective looks to maintain a critical and reflexive stance towards the issues raised and will seek to present multiple perspectives and open-ended answers. As such it hopes to contribute to the international discussion of human rights more broadly and Gender Equality specifically. The intended audience is not limited only to but will include policy makers, scholars and students with an interest in Gender issues, Organizational Theory, Political Science, Human Development, Policy Analysis, Globalization and other management sub-disciplines.

The Oxford Handbook of the Learning Organization (Hardcover): Anders Ortenblad The Oxford Handbook of the Learning Organization (Hardcover)
Anders Ortenblad
R4,153 Discovery Miles 41 530 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The concept of the 'learning organization' is one of the most popular management ideas of the last few decades. Since it was conceived as an idea in its own right, it has been given various definitions and meanings, such that we are still faced with the question as to whether any unified understanding of what the learning organization really is can be established. This Handbook offers extensive reviews of both new and traditional perspectives on the concept and provides suggestions for how the learning organization can best be defined, practiced, studied, and developed in future research. With contributions from long-standing scholars in the field as well as those new to the area, this book aims to bridge the gap between traditional and more critical perspectives, and in doing so find alternative features and angles to take the idea forward. In addition to elaborating on and developing older definitions of the learning organization and suggesting updated and even new definitions, the chapters also provide focused explorations on pertinent aspects of the learning organization such as ambidexterity, gender inclusivity, and systems thinking. They also survey organizations that have made efforts towards becoming learning organizations, how the learning organization can best be measured and studied, and the universality of the idea itself. Some of the questions raised in this book are answered, or at least given tentative answers, while other questions are left open. In this way, the book has the ambition to take the learning organization an important step further, whilst having no intentions to take any final step; instead, the intention is that others will endeavour to continue where this book stops.

Exploring Morgan's Metaphors - Theory, Research, and Practice in Organizational Studies (Paperback): Anders Ortenblad,... Exploring Morgan's Metaphors - Theory, Research, and Practice in Organizational Studies (Paperback)
Anders Ortenblad, Kiran Trehan, Linda L. Putnam
R2,783 Discovery Miles 27 830 Ships in 18 - 22 working days

Gareth Morgan's monumental book, Images of Organization, revolutionized the field of organization theory. In honor of Morgan's classic text, this edited volume, Exploring Morgan's Metaphors: Theory, Research, and Practice in Organizational Studies, illustrates how Morgan's eight metaphors inform research, practice, and organizational intervention in a variety of contexts. Including contributions from well-known experts in their fields, specifically, Joep Cornelisen, Cliff Oswick, David Grant, Hari Tsoukas, and Gareth Morgan, this new text offers fresh perspectives and sets forth new metaphors for conceptualizing organizations in today's workforce. Readers will gain insights and guidelines into the different ways that Morgan's metaphors and metaphorical thinking can be used to better understand organizational life, as well as how to study and develop organizations.
