A deficit of cholinergic neurotransmission is considered to be one of the major causes of disturbance in learning and memory. Among the various therapeutic approaches investigated to enhance cholinergic transmission, acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition is presently the most successful method to ameliorate cholinergic deficit. Keeping in view the activity of numerous quinoline derivatives reported as potential cognitive enhancers attempts were made to design and synthesize some 6-aminoquinoline derivatives. The title compounds were synthesized via an intermediate 6-nitroquinoline which was prepared by Skraup synthesis from 4-nitroaniline prepared from acetanilide by its nitration and subsequent hydrolysis. 6-Nitroquinoline after reduction was treated with various aldehydes (veratraldehyde, anisaldehyde, 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde, indole-3-carboxaldehyde etc.) to give the target compounds. Some of the compounds showed a signi cant memory enhancing activity using elevated plus maze at 5 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg doses. Biochemical studies have shown the compounds to possess unexpectedly good acetylcholinestrase inhibitory activity (max %inhibition 65.27)."

In the present study, an attempt has been made to delineate alteration in cerebellar hemisphere of albino rats following nicotine exposure. From the above findings the following conclusions were drawn: There was no change in weight of cerebellum following long term exposure of nicotine. The thickness of the molecular layer was decreased significantly in experimental group rats. The thickness of the granular layer was decreased significantly in the experimental group rats. There was marked histopathological changes like glioma in the molecular layer of the experimental group rats. There was significant loss of the Purkinje cells following nicotine. The shape of the Purkinje cells was grossly altered. The vertical diameter of the Purkinje cells had decremental trend significantly following nicotine. Although the transverse diameter of the Purkinje cells did not follow a particular trend, it was changed significantly. The morphology of the white core of the cerebellum had extensive changes such as vacuolation, capillary dilatation, oedema."

Uttarakhand is a land of distinct culture and traditions. There are numbers of folk arts and craft that represent the culture of Uttarakhand. But these are fading due to impact of modernization resulting in marked social transformation. Thus traditions & folk ways are losing their originality. To retrieve them it has become imperative to make them alive by adapting into different forms. Textile designing is one of such form in which these traditional arts can be adapted easily to preserve them without changing their religious significance. In this study the Aipan, the folk art of Uttarakhand state, was explored for the development of design and their application on Pichhora, item of traditional attire by using screen printing technique. This study was a small step taken by the researcher with an approach to diversify the Aipan design application and redesign Pichhora according to fashion oriented users.
