IN ONE HAND demonstrates the authors ability to evoke the street life of New York City, and allows the reader to delve into the mind of Tony Sardelli, a man who, on the exterior, is cold and tough. The author brings to him, however, a sensitivity and understanding which deepens the portrait of a basically gentle man. The seemingly contradictory facets of his personality are seen throughout his affair with Dana Lynn. On the surface, anyone who knew Tony would take him for a very lucky man. After all, he has a beautiful wife, satisfying career and an on-going affair with seductive movie star but the reader is privy to the inner turmoil that the affair is causing him. The author has a wry way with vernacular English prose, and his characterizations allows the reader to "know" the many people that Tony comes in contact with........... Tami C. Editorial Coordinator .....................................................................................................................................................................................................................IN ONE HAND is a story depicting a man's hardships in life when someone or something he learns to love is given to him and then almost as quickly, gets taken away. The story takes place in an era of inquiry and surprise, the 1960's, which is exactly what this book has to entail. The author will keep you guessing and in shock to the very last page. He is able to capture you in the story and embrace you with the details and emotions of the main character's life; never to forget that life is what you make it and sometimes that isn't enough. The characters sketch themselves before the reader's very eyes to convey a sense of understanding of the main character. Overall, I adored the book and couldn't help but fall under enchantment with the blessings and unfortunate happenings to Tony Sardelli....... Lauren P.
The current wave of critical and historical engagement with idealist texts affords an unprecedented opportunity to discover the richness and value of the thought of F. W. J. Schelling. In this volume leading scholars offer compelling reasons to regard Schelling as one of Kant's most incisive interpreters, a pioneering philosopher of nature, a resolute philosopher of human finitude and freedom, a nuanced thinker of the bounds of logic and self-consciousness, and perhaps Hegel's most effective critic. The volume provides a wide-ranging presentation of Schelling's original contribution to, and internal critique of, the basic insights of German idealism, his role in shaping the course of post-Kantian thought, and his sensitivity and innovative responses to questions of lasting metaphysical, epistemological, ethical, aesthetic, and theological importance.

Skepticism is one of the most enduring and profound of philosophical problems. With its roots in Plato and the Sceptics to Descartes, Hume, Kant and Wittgenstein, skepticism presents a challenge that every philosopher must reckon with. In this outstanding collection philosophers engage with skepticism in five clear sections: the philosophical history of skepticism in Greek, Cartesian and Kantian thought; the nature and limits of certainty; the possibility of knowledge and related problems such as perception and the debates between objective knowledge and constructivism; the transcendental method as a response to skepticism and the challenge of naturalism; overcoming the skeptical challenge. Skepticism: Historical and Contemporary Inquiries is essential reading for students and scholars in epistemology and the history of philosophy and will also be of interest to those in related disciplines such as religion and sociology.
