This book explains the aspiring vision of a sustainable hydrogen
generating system which employs nanotechnology one way or the other
and presents a detailed update on research activities, achievements
and challenges. It explores how nanotechnology is reshaping science
in general and how this can be applied to the generation and
storage of hydrogen energy. This book begins by highlighting the
importance of hydrogen a source of sustainable energy and its
impact on the technical advances of fuel cells, internal combustion
engines, batteries and power plants. The book depicts the role of
nanotechnology in the development of sustainable hydrogen.
Comprehensive studies on various nanotechnologies involved in
hydrogen generation are discussed in separate chapters,
representing a complete picture of hydrogen generation utilizing
nanotechnology. This book serves as a useful research tool for
academics and practitioners looking towards new ways to develop and
consume energy, without conceding our environment. Providing the
advantages and disadvantages of each technology discussed, this
book shows the benefits of utilizing nanotechnology in this field.

Scholarly Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Physics -
Technical Physics, grade: -, - (Tripura Hochschule), language:
English, abstract: The Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique is a way of
making ultrathin nanostructured films with a controlled layer
structure and crystal parameter, which have many envisioned
applications in technology for optical and molecular electronic
devices as well as in signal processing and transformation. LB
films have a unique potential for controlling the structure of
organized matter on the ultimate scale of miniaturization, and must
surely find a niche where this potential is fulfilled. In this
review paper the early development, technology and present status
of LB film research and key papers are referred to.
This book is a modest attempt to provide a simple text for those
who desire to equip with knowledge of herbal standardization,
qualitative phytochemical investigation and antibacterial activity
of herbal drugs. The authors have attempted to give as many
illustrations as possible to make the concepts and principles clear
to the reader. The large number of review materials is incorporated
at each chapter after exhaustive survey of literature. We believe
that this book will cater to the immediate needs of the students,
researcher and the faculty members of the subject and will serve as
an excellent book of its field. The book contains seven chapters
which are systemically organized for the better understanding of
the subject.
In these study samples of dried fruits, nuts, cereals and beans
were analyzed for total AFs by high pressure liquid chromatography.
Decontamination by different methods was also conducted. Biological
and physical methods were evaluated to decontaminate the mycotoxin
(aflatoxins) contaminated agricultural commodities, to prevent the
threat to human health and the risk of great economic loss. In
biological decontamination, some materials such as chemicals,
herbal compounds/spices and plants were showed the inhibitory
effect on the growth of Aspergillus flavus / Aspergillus
parasiticus and total aflatoxins production. Thus some herbal
compounds/spices and some chemicals as preservatives may
successfully replace synthetic pesticides and provide an
alternative method to protect our staple food from the toxic fungal
contamination. In physical decontamination, application of oven
heating and washing shows reduction in contamination level of AFB1
in different wheat varieties. Moreover, the cooking of rice in an
excess of water showed maximum reduction on the levels of AFB1 and
OTA in contaminated basmati rice samples than normal cooking and
microwave oven cooking.
To evaluate nutritional significance of edible wild and
unconventional fruits, 13 samples were collected from different
areas of Pakistan. The fruits were analyzed for moisture, ash,
vitamin C by Spectrophotometer, Sugars (Glucose, fructose &
sucrose), macro minerals (Na, K, Ca and Mg) and micro nutrients
(Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn and Fe) by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer
Due to lack of information available on energy, micro and macro
nutrients composition of these fruits and their role in
contemporary diet, the assessment was carried out on the basis of
nutritional quality. All these fruits were found quite rich in
nutrients. Furthermore, as these fruits have not yet been
considered as an alternate food products, measures to be taken to
conserve or utilize these fruits, in order to reduce wastage.
