The group of high school graduates who did not enlist immediately
after graduation but later join the Army has made up a significant
and increasing portion of total enlistments. This report presents
the results of a survey of 5,000 Army recruits designed to answer
questions about why they did not immediately enlist and why they
later chose to do so.
This report chronicles intelligence community efforts over more
than half a decade to improve community-wide workforce planning and
management. As decisionmakers look ahead to an era of constrained
budgets, they must avoid repeating earlier workforce planning
mistakes because the consequences of such mistakes can be long
lasting. The tools described will help decisionmakers maintain
workforce capabilities as budgets decline
The authors developed a new methodological framework for assessing
military personnel and military family needs. This monograph
describes the development and testing of a survey based on that
framework that the Department of Defense and local military
commanders can use to gauge the problems and problem-related needs
of service members and their families, how well those needs are
being met, and the barriers and bridges to accessing services.
