British crime drama starring Paul Bettany and Stephen Graham as police officer brothers who struggle to maintain their sense of morality while investigating a murder. With their father Lenny (Brian Cox) also an officer of the law in his heyday, policing seems to run in the veins of Joe and Chrissie Fairburn (Bettany and Graham). However, when a young girl is discovered murdered - the most horrific crime to afflict the community in recent memory - the brothers face a stern test of their mettle. A local convicted paedophile Jason Buleigh (Ben Crompton) is their prime suspect but they struggle to locate concrete evidence of his involvement. Disturbed by the fact that his own daughter is around the same age as the murdered girl, Joe decides that using the strong-arm tactics favoured in his father's day is the way ahead. However, when they drive Jason out to a remote area one night in the hope of eliciting a confession events threaten to spiral out of control...
All eight episodes from the second series of the BBC Victorian costume drama adapted from the novel 'Au Bonheur des Dames' by Émile Zola. Set in a north of England town, the show follows shopworker Denise Lovett (Joanna Vanderham) as she struggles to make her way to the top after managing to gain a lowly position as a salesgirl at 'The Paradise', the town's newly opened upmarket department store. In this series, a year has past and Moray (Emun Elliott) has been exiled to Paris after breaking off his engagement to Katherine (Elaine Cassidy). Following the death of her father, Katherine and her new husband Tom Weston (Ben Daniels) are now the owners of The Paradise. Tom plans to sell the store which has been struggling to survive in Moray's absence. When he returns at Katherine's request, Moray finds he has his work cut out to restore The Paradise to its former glory. Meanwhile, he and Denise continue their romance but the future of their relationship remains uncertain.

Part of the Macmillan Collector's Library; a series of stunning, clothbound, pocket sized classics with gold foiled edges and ribbon markers. These beautiful books make perfect gifts or a treat for any book lover. This edition contains all three books - Lark Rise, Over to Candleford and Candleford Green with an introduction by Bill Gallagher, screenwriter of the hugely popular BBC television adaptation. Laura Timms spends her childhood in a country hamlet called Lark Rise. An intelligent and enquiring child, she is always attentive to the way of life around her - the lives of a farming community and nature as it transforms through the seasons, their working lives together and their celebrations. Whilst much is to be admired and cherished about her community, when she looks back on it as an adult she doesn't shy away from describing hardship too. Laura attends the village school and leaves at the age of fourteen to work for the postmistress of the village of Candleford. There her eyes are opened to wider horizons.
Today, the courtroom is the battlefield, the boardroom is the trading post, and it's chiefs (not governors) who recite winning proclamations to the losing side. That's because natives have racked up the most impressive legal winning streak in Canadian history with well over 150 wins. The defining dynamic of these David and Goliath match-ups is the remarkable rise of native empowerment as Canada's First Peoples redraw the map of our home and native land. Resource Rulers tracks the rise of native empowerment and its remarkable legal winning streak in the Canadian resource sector. It offers a way forward, with new rules of engagement for resource development and for winning outcomes in the road-to-resources sweepstakes.
