Shakespeare's enduring characters are set adrift in present-day
Athens, but a present with a massive difference - an alternative
history. Rigid class systems and 'god given' monarchies of the past
have not been lost. Modern technologies meet ancient tradition; and
the citizens of Athens are frustrated by continuing restrictions
and hierarchies. Only the forest, home to the fairies and fey
spirits can offer the illicit lovers what they seek.
This book has been designed to provide teachers with the tools they
need to include cooking in the classroom. With relative ease,
teachers will be able to undertake a variety of healthy and fun
food activities. Many of the recipes do not even require access to
an oven! The book will help teachers meet the criteria of the
September 2014 National Curriculum for all primary school children
to learn cookery and about healthy eating. It provides a
step-by-step approach, developing skills in food handling and
understanding of the part food plays in the world around us, along
with a range of cross-curricular links. Each of the 15 recipes is
made as an individual mixture so children make and see their own
achievements. The results are designed to go home with the child to
share and demonstrate their new skills to siblings, parents,
relations and friends. This can provide an excellent opportunity
for celebrating achievement and lead to discussion about new foods
and flavours at home. The teacher's notes also offer suggestions of
both how to increase the skill demand of the recipe and how to make
it easier, meaning that you can use the recipes through the whole
age range of the school.
Urban education is the primary target of the school reform movement
and remains the most difficult to assess and repair. The crisis in
urban school systems mirrors many of the problems found in big
cities - poor economic conditions for schools and families,
personnel shortages and high turnover rates, improper facilities
and materials, and political struggles over issues of structure and
control. This book analyses the problems affecting urban schools
and their students and the efforts that have been made to make
these schools more accountable and effective. This book is
organized in three parts. Part one provides an overview of many of
the issues facing urban school districts, their students and their
communities including meeting the needs of racially, ethnically,
linguistically and culturally diverse populations, financing
schools located in economically disadvantaged areas, and attracting
and maintaining qualified teachers and administrators. Part two
examines the impact demands for increased accountability and equity
influence urban education reform. The issues discussed in this
section include academic standards and high stakes testing,
technology and the digital divide, the role of leadership and
impact of teacher shortages, and school finance and public policy.
Part three focuses on strategies developed to reform and improve
urban school systems. These chapters examine federal education
policy, the impact of school choice and related issues such as
privatization and vouchers, the influence of community involvement,
and state sponsored reform and reorganization efforts.
International investment law is in a state of evolution. With the
advent of investor-State arbitration in the latter part of the
twentieth century - and its exponential growth over the last decade
- new levels of complexity, uncertainty and substantive expansion
are emerging. States continue to enter into investment treaties and
the number of investor-State arbitration claims continues to rise.
At the same time, the various participants in investment treaty
arbitration are faced with increasingly difficult issues concerning
the fundamental character of the investment treaty regime, the role
of the actors in international investment law, the new significance
of procedure in the settlement of disputes and the emergence of
cross-cutting issues. Bringing together established scholars and
practitioners, as well as members of a new generation of
international investment lawyers, this volume examines these
developments and provides a balanced assessment of the challenges
being faced in the field.

Based on a bizarre legend from the 13th century, Robert Browning's
poem from 1842 basically deals with how we might lose our future
when we forget our past promises. A good and frightening lesson
about children and parents for... children and parents. The sorrow
message of the poem is somehow curbed by Kate Greenaway's delicate
and abundant illustrations that are turning this book into some
sort of a graphic verse-novel. This color edition is part of the
"Vintage books restored" collection.
Kate Greenwaway (1846-1901) is one of the most popular children's
book illustrators of all time. Edmund Evans produced her first book
in 1879, which sold out resulting in triumph and gaining Greenaway
her reputation. She has enchanted people, young and old, for over
one hundred years with her watercolour illustrations of sweet,
charming eighteenth century children with their quaint costumes and
idyllic scenes. This book 'The Pied Piper Of Hamelin', written by
Robert Browning and illustrated by Kate Greenaway was originally
published in 1888. Many of the earliest children's books,
particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now
extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. Pook Press are working
to republish these classic works in affordable, high quality,
colour editions, using the original text and artwork so these works
can delight another generation of children.
