This book complies latest advancement in the field of environmental
biotechnology. It focuses on topics that comprises industrial,
environment and agricultural related issues to microbiological
studies and exhibits correlation between biological world and
dependence of humans on it. It is designed into three sections
covering the role of environmental biotechnology in industry,
environmental remediation, and agriculture. Ranging from
micro-scale studies to macro, it covers up a huge domain of
environmental biotechnology. Overall the book portrays the
importance of modern biotechnology technologies in solving the
problems in modern day life. The book is a ready reference for
practicing students, researchers of biotechnology, environmental
engineering, chemical engineering and other allied fields likewise.
First published in 1999. The purpose of this qualitative study is
to examine the identity development process for Latino gay men. The
research focuses on the perceptions of a sample of ten gay men and
their process of defining themselves as gay. This study, however,
is not only about the men in this study, it is also about the
social context in which they have found themselves. It is about the
social processes that transpire between Latino gay men and their
social context of firmly held Latino family and religious cultural
values.
This book surveys the cultural, literary, and cinematic impact of
white-authored films and imaginative literature on American society
from Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin to Kathryn
Stockett's Th e Hel p .

Have you ever been lost, really lost?Daniel Garcia answers this
question in Marines Don't Cry by telling his stories of death to
life, deep sorrow to joy, darkness to life and freedom in Christ.
Daniel Garcia and Jacqueline C. Garcia depict Daniel's dramatic
highs and emotionally painful lows. They do not pull punches, nor
do they sugar coat his experiences. Marines Don't Cry recounts his
early life in Spanish Harlem, which makes his journey of walking
more than 52 million steps on six continents for children and world
peace such an incredible story. It conveys Daniel's conversion from
drugs and the fast lane to a man consumed with knowing and serving
God at all costs. Marines Don't Cry describes encounters with world
figures, such as Pope John ll, U.S. presidents, kings and queens,
heads of states and well-known personalities. Most of all, it is
about the love of God, the transformational power of that love, and
how Danny has made it his life's work to love his neighbor, to love
himself, and to spread hope. Read on to discover: How do you walk
around the world with no money?
Maria Sala introduced experimental and field-based studies on soil
and fluvial processes in Spain during the late 1970s and early
1980s. Research on this broad topic has grown remarkably worldwide
since then. This title shows some of these advances and documents
the latest research, although with a particularity: it gives
special treatment to research on Mediterranean climate regions, an
ever-present issue in Maria Sala's research career. It contains the
latest research on slope and river processes with a special
emphasis on rivers and catchments with a Mediterranean climate.
Papers cover a gamut of topics describing research and applied
studies, mainly in Spain, but also in Israel, the USA, Canada, the
UK and New Zealand.
The book examines natural and anthropogenic processes operating in
drainage basins and includes coverage of current experimental and
fieldwork investigations on soil erosion, river and catchment
hydrology, suspended sediment transport and bedload dynamics in
gravel-bed rivers, and present-day diagnosis and future key-paths
for catchment and river management.
* Examines the natural and anthropogenic processes operating in
drainage basins and river channels, and covers current
investigations on Process Geomorphology and Catchment Hydrology,
including management issues
* Topics covered include soil erosion, catchment hydrology,
suspended sediment transport, bedload dynamics in gravel-bed
rivers, and sediment yield
* Emphasis is on the Mediterranean region
The smoke and ashes had cleared, but still the fog of the undead
war lingered on. Since Yoon's death Sai had carried on, leading the
military arm of the temple fortress Wat Tatsunupi in a never ending
struggle for survival. Searching for reason, he entered the temple
and stumbled upon the records the monks had filed away. There in
the depths of pages are interviews, stories of those had lived and
fought in his community since the beginning. The city spirals out
of control as one last air assault into the city takes place. The
countryside echoes with the bombardment at major choke points where
the dead tsunami sweeps across the streets. Families are torn
apart, friends pushed to the limits. The records go on and on but
before Sai can continue reading, he finds himself airborne once
again heading towards the dark unknown. Now all that stands between
life and death is the helicopter fleet known as DEAD AIR.
On leave from the war, U.S. Army helicopter pilot CW3 Sai thought
he would finally get a good night's sleep without fear of attack.
But his date with a beautiful Thai actress was interrupted - by an
attack from the dead. In a matter of minutes, Sai was running with
Yoon as the city of Bangkok tore itself apart. With helicopters
flying overhead, F-16s screaming above, and tanks rolling through
the streets, Sai and Yoon escape to a temple that becomes the
living's last outpost in Asia. But hordes of the dead have gathered
outside, trying to claw their way through the temple walls. Now all
that stands between life and gruesome death is the helicopter fleet
known as "Dead Air."
This interdisciplinary collection examines the shaping of local
sexual cultures in the Asian Pacific region in order to move beyond
definitions and understandings of sexuality that rely on Western
assumptions. The diverse studies in "AsiaPacifiQueer" demonstrate
convincingly that in the realm of sexualities, globalization
results in creative and cultural admixture rather than a unilateral
imposition of the western values and forms of sexual culture. These
essays range across the Pacific Rim and encompass a variety of
forms of social, cultural, and personal expression, examining
sexuality through music, cinema, the media, shifts in popular
rhetoric, comics and magazines, and historical studies. By
investigating complex processes of localization, interregional
borrowing, and hybridization, the contributors underscore the
mutual transformation of gender and sexuality in both Asian Pacific
and Western cultures.
