"Popular Medievalism in Romantic-Era Britain" examines ways in
which British writers and readers used the idea of the Middle Ages
to challenge contemporary political structures and to claim
historical national rights at a time when fears that Britain would
follow the example of the French Revolution caused the British
government to undermine individual and collective rights. Through
the consideration of canonical authors such as Blake, Scott, and
Wordsworth and of lesser-studied works such as radical press
writings and popular drama, this study suggests that the
imaginative appeal to the social structures and literary forms of
the Middle Ages served as a powerful means of raising awareness of
Britain's past and the tradition of freedom.

Called Aging: Challenges and Opportunities in Older Adulthood
presents an insightful exploration of the years between the entry
into older adulthood and death. This text examines the significant
changes and major landmarks of older persons between 60 and 90.
Grounded by a developmental framework based on empirical research,
this book presents a new way of looking at older adulthood,
describing the older adult years in intensely human terms through
both anecdotes and research-based findings to engage the reader as
both guide and traveler. Using a series of sequential stages as a
framework, A Journey Called Aging: Challenges and Opportunities in
Older Adulthood discusses the experiences of older adults
addressing the challenges and opportunities presented at each
stage. This clear analysis can be used as a guide to help persons
plan their own odyssey through the older years. Topics in A Journey

include: research and results of the study entering older adulthood
the long stable stage of Extended Middle Age Early Transition Older
Adult Lifestyle Later Transition the stable stage near the end of

Environmental Security and Global Stability places environmental
security at the center of the new, complex global security debate.
By meshing strategic and operational expertise with academic and
policy research the work demonstrates the imperative need to move
theoretical and moral environmental protection programs from the
state of study and rhetoric to the realm of action. The essays
highlight-through case study discussions of environmental flash
points in Asia, Africa, and Latin America-the clear linkages
between environmental degradation, population growth, ethnic
tension, economic distress, and political instability. Offering a
theoretical framework from which to approach environmental security
policy as well as suggesting practical preventative and mitigatory
measures for its implementation, this volume is an invaluable
resource for scholars and policymakers alike.

The purpose of this book is to communicate findings of a research
synthesis investigating the bases of reading failure and the
curricular and instructional basics to help guide the design and
advancement of children's reading performance. The
synthesis--completed by the National Center to Improve the Tools of
Educators (NCITE) and sponsored by the U.S. Department of
Education's Office of Special Education Programs--was conducted as
part of NCITE's mission to improve the quality of educational tools
that largely shape practice in American schools.

During the American Civil War and the years immediately following,
thousands of Confederate sympathizers and former soldiers left the
southern United States to seek exile in other lands. Evidence
suggests that more Confederate soldiers went to British Honduras,
presently known as Belize, than any other single site. This work is
an in-depth look at the settlements established by former
Confederates--what lured the Confederates there, what the trip from
New Orleans was like, what life was like for immigrants in Belize
City, the settlements at Toledo, New Richmond, northern British
Honduras, Manattee, and other settlements, and what Belize City was
like at the height of the immigrant influx. Also included are lists
of arrivals at the hotels and passenger lists from the ships; both
were important in identifying prominent Confederates who sought
refuge in British Honduras.

Kingdom leadership does not begin and end at the church door.
Christians are called to conduct leadership in government,
commerce, schools, neighborhoods, families, para-church ministries
and a myriad other contexts. God has given us many gifts, and our
responsibility is to be stewards of those gifts, and use them to do
the King's work. In that context, this comprehensive text explores
key facets of leadership from a Christian worldview so as to equip
people to conduct leadership more authentically than would be
possible under alternative paradigms. The book begins with the
seldom considered theological foundations of leadership while also
tracing the historic roots of management, organization and
leadership theories. All of this leads to a robust discussion of
five essential challenges and practices--communication,
negotiation, decision-making, financial stewardship and personal
development. The combined efforts of these experts in the field
provide a practical theology of leadership from a Christian
worldview for emerging and established leaders. Here is the
foundation needed for those who want to conduct leadership in a
manner consistent with their faith in both religious and
nonreligious organizational contexts.
