This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the IFIP International Conference on Network and Parallel Computing, NPC 2007, held in Dalian, China in September 2007.

The 53 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from over 600 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on network applications: cluster and grid computing, internet computing, optical networks, peer-to-peer computing, ubiquitous computing, wireless computing; network technologies: communication technology, network algorithms, network reliability, security, and dependability, network storage; network and parallel architectures: multicore design issues, network and interconnect architecture, nontraditional processor technologies, performance modeling and evaluation, system design issues for low power and energy efficiency; as well as parallel and distributed software: data mining, parallel programming tools, models, languages and compilers.

The 60 revised full papers presented together with 3 invited lectures were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions and they address issues as processor and network design, reconfigurable computing and operating systems, including both low- level design issues in hardware and systems. There are papers describing large and significant computer-based infrastructure projects and also many papers which reflect the move to concurrency on chip in multi-core devices and many more are concerned with the significant problems industry will face with stricter budgets in power dissipation.
