On May 6, 1950, Viggo and Emil Hojgaard from the small village of Tollund were cutting mud to find peat for their stove in the Bjaeldskovdal peat bog, 12km west of Silkeborg, Denmark. As they worked, one of their wives noticed in the peat layer a corpse so fresh that they believed they had discovered a recent murder victim, and after much deliberation they notified the police at Silkeborg. The police were baffled by the body, and in an attempt to identify the time of death, they brought in archaeology professor P.V. Glob. Upon initial examination, Glob suggested that the body was over two thousand years old and most likely the victim of a sacrifice. This book, written by the Director of the museum at which Tollund Man has resided since his discovery, presents the investigations into this enigmatic figure and tells the story of his life and death based upon the evidence of the archaeological record.

Aufgrund seiner Lage zwischen dem ostasiatischen Festlandsblock und den westpazifischen Inselbogen liegt die koreanischen Halbinsel im Spannungsfeld auswartiger Machte. Allerdings mussen mit diesen nur" 7% der weltweit verfugbaren landwirtschaftlichen Nutzflachen 20% der Weltbevolkerung ernahrt werden. Das stellt hohe Anforderungen an die chinesische Landwirtschaft. Im Bereich der Landwirtschaft kommt es daher zu folgender Krise: Zum einen versucht die VR China sicher zu stellen dass die eigene Bevolkerung ausreichend mit Nahrungsmitteln (vor allem Weizen und Reis) versorgt werden kann. Zum anderen wird der Landwirtschaft aus verschiedenen Grunden, die im Rahmen dieser Arbeit naher behandelt werden, immer mehr Flache entzogen. Das wird auch durch den am 17.03.2009 vorgelegten Forschungsbericht Nr. 107 des Kriminologischen Forschungsinstituts Niedersachsen E.V., in dem unter anderem der renommierte Kriminologe Christian Pfeiffer mitarbeitete, unterstrichen. In der Berliner Bundespressekonferenz betonte er, dass viele Dinge bezuglich der Jugendgewalt nicht so schlimm seien, wie sie in den Medien manchmal ubertrieben dargestellt werden, nach dem Motto Bad News are good News." Entgegen der offentlichen Wahrnehmung sei die Jugendgewalt, einschliesslich der Gewalt an Schulen stabil oder gar rucklaufig. Er spricht von einer veranderten Gewaltakzeptanz in der Gesellschaft, betont die verstarkte Kultur des Hinschauens" an deutschen Schulen und deren Praventionsarbeit.
