Die Clubs handeln nicht langer als Vereine im eigentlichen Sinne, sondern als moderne Dienstleistungsunternehmen, die das Produkt Profifussball" als Gemeinschaftsgut anbieten und vermarkten. Steigende Kommerzialisierung, steigende Umsatze gepaart mit hohem offentlichen Interesse, machen den europaischen Profifussball fur eine okonomische Analyse interessant. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschrankt sich auf zwei zentrale Themen. Da es in den letzten Jahren zu dramatischen Veranderungen im Transferrecht gekommen ist und dadurch nachhaltige Konsequenzen fur Spieler und Vereine entstanden sind, bezieht sich der erste Teil der Arbeit auf den Einfluss von Veranderungen der gesetzlichen Transferrestriktionen auf okonomische Variablen wie Spielergehalter und Transferzahlungen und vergleicht auf Grundlage eines Modells von Feess, Muhlheusser und Frick aus dem Jahr 2004 die verschiedenen Wirkungen der in den letzten 10 Jahren gultigen Transfersysteme auf diese Variablen. Nach einer kurzen Einleitung, welche die historische Entwicklung des Transferrechts beschreibt, wird dieses Modell vorgestellt und der Einfluss von Transferrestriktionen auf Transfersummen, Spielervertrage, Spielergehalter und Spielerleistungen theoretisch untersucht. Diese theoretischen Ergebnisse werden im Anschluss empirisch gepruft. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit folgt eine Analyse von Vermarktungsstrategien der Fernsehubertragungsrechte im europaischen Profifussball. Die Einnahmen aus der Vermarktung der TV Rechte sind in den letzten Jahren um ein vielfaches angestiegen und bilden zudem fur viele Vereine und Ligen die hochste Einnahmenquelle.
