Synopsis: The human imagination is a reflection of and a participation in the divine imagination; so mused the romantic poet, philosopher and theologian Samuel Taylor Coleridge. His thinking was intuitive, dense, obscure, brilliant, and deeply influenced by German philosophy. This book explores the development of his philosophical theology with particular reference to the imagination, examining the diverse streams that contributed to the originality of his thought. The second section of this book extrapolates his thinking into areas into which Coleridge did not venture. If God is intrinsically imaginative, then how is this manifested? Can we articulate a theology of the ontology of God that is framed in imaginative and creative terms? The new interdisciplinary theology series, published by the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the University of Tubingen, provides a forum for the discussion of interdisciplinary aspects of theology. The focus is on approaches that relate to theology and its exegetical, historical, systematic and practical disciplines bring them into conversation with each other and with other sciences Tolerance is one of the cornerstones of democratic societies. The tolerance that has been hard-won in European history is currently being challenged, not least by the tensions and conflicts that arise from religious beliefs. Religion often appears as a source of intolerance. The connection between religion and tolerance must therefore urgently be formulated as a topic of education and upbringing, examined and examined for possible strategies for action. This book offers helpful approaches for this.
