Christian exegesis of the Song of Songs has long interacted
creatively with - and, more recently, reacted critically against -
the allegorical interpretation developed by Origen of Alexandria
(c.185-c.254) in his Commentary and two Homilies on the Song of
Songs. Interest in Origen's exegesis of the Song's narrative
elements has dominated past scholarship, which has almost entirely
ignored how Origen assesses the Song itself, in its unity as a
revealed text. This study aims to show that the Commentary and
Homilies - when read in light of Origen's hermeneutic, his nuptial
theology, his understanding of the prophetic mediation of inspired
texts, and his doctrine of last things - clearly portray the Song
of Songs itself as the divine Bridegroom's perfect marriage-song.
As such, it mediates Christ's eschatological presence, as the
spirit' of Scripture, in and through the intelligible structures of
the text itself.

Premchand is one of the most outstanding figures in
twentieth-century Hindi literature. His novels and short stories
dealing with the lives of everyday heroes have attained the status
of classics. His works continue to be rediscovered and to captivate
new generations of readers in India and abroad. The inhumanity of
caste hierarchies and the plight of women stirred his indignation
and remained constant themes through his works. Of his many novels,
Rangbhumi (Battleground, 1924-5) depicts most graphically the
devastation of peasant society and agriculture under colonial rule.
Premchand treads the very tricky ground of tensions between the
rulers and the ruled in this novel. Here, the ruled are the Indians
and the rulers are an amalgam of the whites, the Indian landowners,
and the Indian Christians. Rangbhumi spans the time between the
1920s and 1930s in pre-Independence India. It captures and
celebrates the unassailable spirit of the common man, especially
the farming community, whic h knows no defeat or submission, as its
spirit is always on the mend, even as it is perceived to be finally
crushed.
Widely acclaimed for its outstanding step-by-step illustrations,
comprehensive coverage, and reader-friendly format, Textbook of
Pediatric Emergency Procedures is now in its thoroughly updated
Second Edition. In 137 chapters, the book provides clear, complete
instructions on every emergency medicine procedure performed on
infants, children, and adolescents. More than 1,000 detailed
drawings, most in two-color, show how to perform each
procedure.
This edition includes a new chapter on new technologies and
techniques for managing the difficult airway. Other new topics
include use of tissue adhesives in laceration repair, focused
abdominal sonography for trauma (FAST), management of priapism,
reimplanting an avulsed permanent tooth, use of automatic external
defibrillators, and procedures related to bioterrorism.

Foreign Policy - Persian Gulf Simulation, language: English,
abstract: The Persian Gulf and its littoral states Iran, Iraq,
Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman have witnessed
several conflicts over the last decades. They have seen the
Iran-Iraq war from 1980-1988 and the two Gulf Wars with U.S.
involvement, that made the Persian Gulf a highly volatile region.
Historically, the actions taken by America in the region have been
driven by mainly two interests: First, ensuring a continued flow of
oil exports of the countries and second, preventing a regional
hegemon dominating the politics of the Persian Gulf. These
interests had been brought to paper with the Carter Doctrine in
1980 in light of the growing assertiveness of the Soviet Union in
the Persian Gulf. Since 9/11, there is also the interest of
counterterrorism and today, another power after the Soviet Union
tries to seize regional hegemony. The Persian Gulf is now home to a
country ruled by a regime that wants to destroy the Israeli state
and supports terrorist organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas to
further destabilize the region. Furthermore, unrest or even clashes
between Sunnis and Shiites in the Persian Gulf countries are
possible as they are either majority or minority in a state and
oppressed by the antagonistic ruling group. Iran is the main
representative of the Shiites, while the GCC countries are ruled by
Sunni leaders. The goal of this paper will be to show awareness of
the problems in the Persian Gulf, address U.S. interests in the
region, identify threats to these interests and provide policy
recommendations in how the United States should pursue its Foreign
Policy in the Persian Gulf. As this analysis is written through the
lens of the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs the

International Politics - Topic: Public International Law and Human
Rights, grade: 1,0, Indiana University (Department of Political
Science), course: Politics of Genocide, language: English,
abstract: "Until now, when powerful men committed crimes against
humanity, they knew that so long as they remained powerful, no
earthly court could judge them." (Annan, Kofi, 07.28.1998) These
words of Kofi Annan, at that time secretary-general of the United
Nations, were spoken shortly after the adoption of the Rome Statute
of the International Criminal Court (ICC). They reflect the
international effort to investigate and prosecute cruel crimes
against humanity, war crimes, the crime of aggression and genocide.
The intent of this paper is to present a stance on the question
whether international indictments for crimes of mass murder in
Darfur are appropriate and justified. It will be argued, that the
international community has to punish perpetrators of mass violence
under certain conditions, because of the following crucial points:
(2.1) The international community has the moral and legal
obligation to do so, (2.3) international justice should be pursued
independently of regards to the peace process, (2.4) it may deter
others and possibly produce domestic pressures and changes.
Moreover, to be able to develop guidelines and policy
recommendations the paper will also consider (2.2) the types of
international punishment and who carries them out, as well as (2.5)
examine the real capability of punishment and criteria of success.
Before doing so, it is inevitable to (1.1) introduce the conflict,
(1.2) the genocide debate and (1.3) the international response to
the killings, because the stance on the use of international
justice in Darfur is ultimately shaped by the interpretation of
these issues.
"I came to Vietnam as a first lieutenant in the United States Air
Force in the summer of 1963 for a 14-month tour of duty. Only a few
months after my arrival, the coup events recorded here took place
toppling Ngo Dinh Diem's Saigon regime, followed in a few weeks by
the assassination of President Kennedy. In this book I will not
attempt to give either a public history of the Vietnam War, or a
private history of my own time there, but only a little flavor of
my life leading up to the coup, and then the original diary notes,
more or less verbatim, recording the terrible night of the coup
itself, and the morning after." -- Christopher King

Abstract: "Despite years of good intentions, neither sanctions by
the United States nor engagement by others succeeded in improving
the lives of the Burmese people."
Sicherheit darstelle (vgl. Bunte 2007: 5). Die UN kann somit
hochstens eine vermittelnde Rolle einnehmen. Die Association of
Wissenschaft kontrovers diskutiert. Diese Hausarbeit wird von der
Annahme ausgehen, dass beide skizzierte Modelle, gemessen an ihren
tatsachlichen Zielen, uberwiegend politisch erfolglos geblieben
sind. Im Fall Myanmar entspricht diese Auffassung der eingangs
zitierten Regierungserklarung und wird auch vom Grossteil der
Forschung geteilt (exemplarisch Bunte 2007: 5, Englehart 2010: 10,
Haacke 2008: 351, Holliday 2005: 603, Steinberg 2004: 52).
