Kate took a leap of faith, moving back to her small Vermont
hometown after her divorce. With no job, but a passion for baking,
she opens a kitchen store and bakery in town, buys a small
farmhouse, and settles into a comfortable, but ordinary life. Her
daughter, Sarah, wants her to find her Mr. Right. Gail and Sue, her
best friends, just want her to be happy. Kate wants to fall in love
again, but the available prospects seem less than ideal. Then, a
stranger comes to town. Tall, dark and definitely handsome, he
becomes the object of her curiosity. She discovers that he's a
writer; one with a past that he doesn't seem willing to reveal.
Although Kate finds herself attracted to him, she's afraid of what
she imagines he could be hiding...either from her or from himself.
While one man is willing to hand over his heart to her, she finds
her own heart pulled towards another. But how can she make the
right decision if she doesn't know the truth? Hope it seems, can
yield both blessing and curse, but what will it return for Kate?
What do you do when your family's financial security is threatened
by the loss of a job, illness, or divorce? Or, have you been
struggling for years and never seem to be able to get ahead? In the
Trenches is the story of one family's survival of economic
challenges brought on by a terminal illness in the family and loss
of income. Getting creative, learning to budget, and looking at the
situation through the eyes of opportunity can turn around any bad
situation.
I started writing these tales for my grandsons who love their
bedtime stories. They live in Arizona and we don't get to see them
often enough, so I thought by writing some stories myself, that it
would give them a bit of closeness that we don't have otherwise.
The stories are designed to help in the growth process and provide
some positive reinforcement for some of the awkward situations that
children face every day. Hopefully there are a few ideas in here to
help them through. "Small Bear With A Big Wish" is about trying new
things and not getting discouraged. "Martin, the Left-Handed
Monkey" is learning that different is not wrong or stupid, and
never easy. "Freckle-face" is about being happy with your self.
These stories have all come from things that I have experienced
after being an aunt, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and school
bus driver. Children are an endless source of inspiration and
learning. They can teach as well as be taught and we all have a lot
to learn. "A Worm's Tale" is and example of how each teller of a
story sees it differently.
