Edward Gordon Craig (1872-1966) was the most brilliant and
influential stage designer this century. Always a controversial
figure, he set out to revolutionise the theatre by creating a new
art, the art of the theatre. Almost single-handed he formulated the
principles on which a modern approach to stage design would be
based. In his writings and engravings he transformed stage scenery
from painted back-cloth into an abstract three-dimensional world of
form and light. Craig's reputation as a designer is firmly
established; his brilliance as a writer is only beginning to be
recognised. Index to the Story of My Days shows him at his most
self-revealing. As the original edition announced, 'Anything less
like the conventional book of memoirs it would be difficult to
imagine'. This 1981 reissue includes a specially written
introductory essay by Peter Holland assessing the importance of
Craig's career in the history of stage design.
To gain a more complete understanding of plant-based ecological
community structure requires knowledge of the integration of direct
and indirect effects in plant herbivore systems. Trait modification
of plants as a result of herbivory is very common and widespread in
terrestrial plants, and this initiates indirect interactions
between organisms that utilise the same host plant. This 2007 book
argues that food webs by themselves are inadequate models for
understanding ecological communities, because they ignore important
indirect, nontrophic links. This subject is of great importance in
understanding not only community organisation but also in
identifying the underlying mechanisms of maintenance of
biodiversity in nature. This book will be an invaluable resource
for researchers and graduate students interested in community and
population ecology, evolutionary biology, biodiversity, botany and
entomology.

their friends to a new town filled with hostile faces. A fifteen
year old boy is surrounded by strangers in a new school... and a
cruel, bleak nothingness is beginning to take hold of him. Soon the
town will know the pain off loss, of unhappiness, of unrelenting
misery. And as an epidemic starts to grow, a spate of teenage
suicides, another being begins to emerge. It lives in the wall, in
the corner of the room and has hair as black as tar, eyes red like
fire and teeth as vicious as grief. The nightmare has begun, the
depression has taken its grip...The Black Dog has arisen.
Public access to government information forms the foundation of a
healthy liberal democracy. Because this information can be
precarious, it needs stewardship. Government Information in Canada
provides analysis about the state of Canadian government
information publishing. Experts from across the country draw on
decades of experience to offer a broad, well-founded survey of
history, procedures, and emerging issues-particularly the
challenges faced by practitioners during the transition of
government information from print to digital access. This is an
indispensable book for librarians, archivists, researchers,
journalists, and everyone who uses government information and wants
to know more about its publication, circulation, and retention.
