Like Memory, Caverns is an elegiac book, mourning losses from
the personal to the planetary. Though personal in tone, these
graceful, meditative poems reach insistently outward to the natural
and social worlds, moving beyond today's confessionalism. In fact,
the self keeps disappearing, as the world as it is seen seems to
replace the seer. This poetry explores the tenuousness of each
individual moment while affirming a necessary--if
difficult--existence of the free spirit. Elizabeth Dodd writes a
remarkably musical free verse, with her eye kept focused on the
tangible significant detail of natural imagery.
This collection features five peer-reviewed reviews on optimising
rootstock health. The first chapter explores optimising rootstock
health to improve root function, resource-use efficiency,
sustainability and agricultural productivity. The chapter also
presents a case study on tomato rootstocks as a viable strategy to
overcome abiotic stresses in Ghana. The second chapter reviews the
important aspects of tree growth and development in apple
production which are integral to ensure product quality. The
chapter discusses the importance of rootstocks and emphasises the
mechanisms and morphological effects of dwarfing on rootstocks. The
third chapter considers recent advances in the development and
utilisation of fruit tree rootstocks, focussing primarily on
apples. The chapter also reviews rootstock tolerance to both
abiotic and biotic stresses. The fourth chapter discusses advances
in avocado tissue culture for clonal propagation and highlights the
potential of this technology for improving the sustainable supply
of high-quality avocado plants to support future avocado industry
growth. The final chapter addresses the challenges and
opportunities in pear breeding, focussing on pear cultivars, pear
rootstocks and germplasm resources. The chapter also considers the
use of dwarfing as a means of improving particular traits.
This book gives examples from healthcare institutions that are
using IT automation and innovation to drive change and provides
guidance on the strategic direction of HIT over the next five
years. Improving the delivery of healthcare through HIT is vital
for both the economic success of healthcare organizations and the
care of the patient, but most EMR systems do not have an integrated
and architected approach. This book provides a detailed approach on
how to leverage IT for transformation. It also shows how to build
upon the experiences of other industries and helps foster
innovation by providing a vision of where technology can be an
enabler.

In the mid-1970s, just when Congress seemed static and incapable of
rejuvenation, the institution experienced an unexpected and
transformative change. What accounted for this dynamic process and
continues to explain other more recent upheavals and waves of
reform? This volume charts the thinking of scholar Lawrence Dodd in
his development of theoretical explanations for congressional
change over time -- explained by members' pursuit of power,
institutional and electoral contexts, cyclical rhythms, social
learning, and polarization within society. Dodd's power cycle
theory, modeled here as a dynamic act of theory development itself,
takes shape to define an organizational cycle, an electoral cycle,
and a learning cycle in Congress. Dodd also begins to explore here
for the first time a fourth dimension of change, highlighting the
possibility that the very act of Congress's transformative change
and issue responsiveness may bring with it unseen and yet deep
structured dangers that threaten the cyclical resilience of
Congress. By showing an evolving multi-dimensional theory of
congressional change in process from essay to essay, this book
demonstrates the act of theory building, legitimizing this
sustained form of empirical political inquiry in its own right. A
new foreword from political scientist Eric Schickler sets the stage
for the ways tin which Dodd's work has been innovative in the field
of legislative studies.

Ever since I began writing short stories, people have been telling
me they never know which of my characters are real and which are
purely fictional. The simple answer of course, is that they are all
fictional, just some, more than others, are based more on either
past experiences or are from tales I've heard other people tell. At
the end of the day, it doesn't matter and I'm pleased readers are
gaining so much enjoyment from the results of my vivid imagination.
Some are real, some are not. I love writing about people and what
makes them tick. Play along and make your own mind up; you can
never be wrong
This is the first collection of short stories published by Sonya C.
Dodd. Each tale is an exploration of the human character and looks
at how the main character in each story reacts to what is happening
around them. This collection contains a number of different genres.
This is Sonya's second anthology of short stories, and like her
first: 2000 Words, this is an exploration of human nature and how
people react to the events which play a part of their everyday
existence.
