All 12 episodes from the first season of the Golden Globe-winning
US drama about a CIA officer determined to prove that a returned
hero is actually an Al-Qaeda mole. Out of favour with her superiors
after returning home from an unauthorised operation in Iraq, CIA
officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is warned by one of her
contacts that an American prisoner has been turned by his terrorist
captors. When she subsequently learns of the rescue of US Marine
sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) after eight years in
captivity, Carrie's suspicions are immediately raised. But with the
returning Brody hailed a hero, and her concerns falling on deaf
ears, she's soon forced to break ranks to prove her theory.
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made

Pretendiendo construir un futuro, me quede atrapado en el hoy,
buscando el alimento para el cuerpo, se morian de hambre mis
suenos: me convirtieron en obrero, pretendieron ser mis duenos;

Aldred's interlinear gloss to the Lindisfarne Gospels (London,
British Library, MS Cotton Nero D.IV) is one of the most
substantial representatives of the Old English variety known as
late Old Northumbrian. Although it has received a great deal of
attention in the past two centuries, there are still numerous
issues which remain unresolved. The papers in this collection
approach the gloss from a variety of perspectives - language,
cultural milieu, palaeography, glossography - in order to shed
light on many of these issues, such as the authorship of the gloss,
the morphosyntax and vocabulary of the dialect(s) it represents,
its sources and relationship to the Rushworth Gospels, and Aldred's
cultural and religious affiliations. Because of its breadth of
coverage, the collection will be of interest and great value to
scholars in the fields of Anglo-Saxon studies and English
historical linguistics.
Any surgical intervention, elective or acute, may lead to
postoperative complications. Moreover, the pertaining approach -
laparoscopic or open - will probably not differ in the morbidity
rate after surgery. Complications that occur after a surgical
intervention can be classified as major or minor. Major
complications to the digestive tract after surgery imply in most of
cases a leakage of an anastomosis, bleeding in the abdominal cavity
or in the tract, the appearance of intraperitoneal abscesses, or
surgical site infections and wound dehiscence. These complications,
depending on the organ affected, upper GI, HPB tract or colorectal,
are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Early suspicion
and diagnosis, followed by an early and effective treatment is
imperative in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality. Adequate
treatment will involve a good coordination of the three disciplines
involved in treatment: the surgeon, the intervention radiologist,
and the gastroenterologist. Approach of these postoperative
complications is changing constantly and these changes are not
properly known by general and more specialized digestive surgeons
daily involved in the treatment of these diseases. The proposal for
this book is to offer a systematic description of the most frequent
complications occurring in the three above mentioned parts of the
digestive tract. In this way, the reader will have access to a
practical book in which every current complication can be easily
recognized, along with relevant information as guide for an
adequate treatment.
Intelligent Mobile Robot Navigation builds upon the application
of fuzzy logic to the area of intelligent control of mobile robots.
Reactive, planned, and teleoperated techniques are considered,
leading to the development of novel fuzzy control systems for
perception and navigation of nonholonomic autonomous vehicles. The
unique feature of this monograph lies in its comprehensive
treatment of the problem, from the theoretical development of the
various schemes down to the real-time implementation of algorithms
on mobile robot prototypes. As such, the book spans different
domains ranging from mobile robots to intelligent transportation
systems, from automatic control to artificial intelligence.

All 12 episodes from the sixth season of the critically acclaimed
US drama centred around the life of former CIA agent Carrie
Mathison (Claire Danes). Set several months after the end of the
fifth season, Carrie returns home to work for a foundation
supplying aid to Muslims living in the United States, just as the
country elects a woman, Elizabeth Kean (Elizabeth Marvel), into the
Oval Office. The episodes are: 'Fair Game', 'The Man in the
Basement', 'The Covenant', 'A Flash of Light', 'Casus Belli', 'The
Return', 'Imminent Risk', 'Alt. Truth', 'Sock Puppets', 'The Flag
House', 'R for Romeo' and 'America First'.
The proposal for this book is to offer a systematic description of
the most frequent complications occurring in the three parts of the
digestive tract: HPB, Upper GI and colorectal tracts. Every
complication, from esophageal to the rectum, is described
systematically through two or three practical cases as has been
treated by actual surgical practices of authors serving as surgeon
practitioners. Description of the case, presentation of indication
for surgery, type of primary surgical intervention and complication
is described textually but also and by means of clinical signs,
laboratory tests, radiological studies (CT scans and schematic
drawings) and other methods used for diagnosis and treatment. The
reader will have access to a practical book in which every current
complication can be easily recognized, along with relevant
information as guide for an adequate treatment.

This book presents an overview of modeling definitions and
concepts, theory on human behavior and human performance data,
available tools and simulation approaches, model development, and
application and validation methods. It considers the data and
research efforts needed to develop and incorporate functions for
the different parameters into comprehensive escape and evacuation
simulations, with a number of examples illustrating different
aspects and approaches. After an overview of basic modeling
approaches, the book discusses benefits and challenges of current
techniques. The representation of evacuees is a central issue,
including human behavior and the proper implementation of
representational tools. Key topics include the nature and
importance of the different parameters involved in ASET and RSET
and the interactions between them. A review of the current
literature on verification and validation methods is provided, with
a set of recommended verification tests and examples of validation
tests. The book concludes with future challenges: new scenarios and
factors for future model developments, addresses the problem of
using deterministic and/or stochastic approaches and proposes, and
discusses the use of evacuation models for supporting timely
decisions in real-time. Written by international experts,
Evacuation Modeling Trends is designed for those involved in
safety, from emergency and intervention personnel to students,
engineers and researchers.
The book offers an invaluable introduction to the topic of the
representation of alcohol in literature and film from antiquity to
the present. The first part deals with literature and includes a
genealogy of the relationship between alcohol and fiction. The
authors set two Victorian ghost stories and a Nigerian
phantasmagorical fable as examples of how alcohol dilutes the
boundaries between the living and the dead. The part devoted to
film approaches the matter of alcohol both as a personal vice and a
vehicle of social interaction. The authors explore American, Irish,
and Polish films, paying particular attention to the masculinities
they portray. The whole volume can serve as a textbook on these
issues. The books and films analyzed will constitute an ample
reading and viewing list for a university course.

Ana Escribano Cuesta's thesis presents a detailed study of the
inter- and intramolecular reactions of carbonyl compounds with 1,6
-enynes using gold (I) complexes. An important part of the work
involved streamlining the variables that allow the selective
synthesis of different products such as tricyclic compounds,
dihydropyrans, 1,3-dienes or cyclobutenes. The second chapter
highlights the importance and difficulties in synthesising a
cyclobutene subunit and the author includes a detailed description
of how the products were prepared. The final chapter outlines the
synthesis of lundurines using methodology developed by the author's
research group for intramolecular gold-catalyzed cyclization of
indoles with alkynes. The lundurine products developed in this work
show significant in vitro cytoxicity toward B16 melanoma cells. The
work in this thesis has led to a number of publications in high-
profile chemistry journals.
Globally, fire retardants are needed to satisfy a multibillion
dollar market. Fire retardancy of polymeric materials is an
important component of fire safety. Fire retardants either reduce
the likelihood of ignition and/or reduce the rate of flame spread
and hence, escalation of fire. The need to comply with safety
legislations forces industry to use fire retardants in materials in
order to save lives. With growing consumer demands and new
legislations, the development of new systems is an on-going
process, which also involves understanding their mechanisms of
action. This book covers the latest developments in fire retardant
strategies including: " new fire retardant systems (including
nanoparticulate fillers, sometimes combined with conventional fire
retardants) " intumescent formulations and their recent
applications in bulk polymers, fibres and textiles " test-methods
for material flammability " material-specific aspects of
combustion, smoke and toxicity. Fire retardant strategies covered,
include the use of synergistic combinations of alumina with
organoclay, organophosphorus compunds, silica and organosilicones,
clay-phosphate combinations and a novel tecnhique for investigating
fire rerardant behaviour. The section on nanoparticulate fillers
includes an investigation on the effect of filler shape, the use of
carbon nanofibres and nanotubes, the interpretation of
nanocomposite behaviour in the cone calorimeter, and groundbreaking
new research on the influence of rheological properties on burning
behaviour. The coverage of fibres and textiles includes a
discussion on trends in textile fire retardancy and flammability
regulations, and some novel halogen-free approaches to fire
retardancy of cellulose, acrylic and polypropylene textiles.
Finally, the influence of fire retardants on fire toxicity is
discussed in detail, followed by an investigation of the toxic
products from burning fire retarded polymer nanocomposites. This
book will update fire retardant materials' developers with latest
in research and design of new fire retardant materials. It will
also provide a snapshot of the state-of-the-art for a range of
other groups including environmentalists looking for alternatives
to brominated flame retardants and engineers needing to use fire
safe materials in their projects.

This book deals with a wide range of techniques used in the urban
design process. It then goes on to relate these techniques to a
unique, comprehensive account of method. A method of urban design
is developed which has sustainability and environmental protection
at the centre of its philosophy. Previously, literature regarding
the urban design method has been almost totally neglected; this
book introduces the topic to the reader. This revised Second
Edition encompasses the latest techniques including the development
of geographic information systems and financial techniques which
help evaluate projects. A number of techniques are illustrated by
example or case study. Where techniques are discussed they are
located within the structure of the design process. The book
develops a logical framework for a process, which includes problem
definition, survey, analysis, concept generation, evaluation and
implementation. It is this framework which leads toward the
development of an urban design method. This book is a practical
guide for students or professionals in the early part of their
careers. It is organized so that each chapter provides guidance
which readers would have otherwise had to discover for themselves,
often with some difficulty.
