The programme follows aristocrat Christopher Tietjens (Cumberbatch) as he marries the destructive Sylvia (Hall) despite being uncertain about whether the child she is pregnant with is his. He is determined to be faithful regardless of Sylvia's dalliances with other men but his resolve falters when he meets beautiful suffragette Valentine Wannop (Adelaide Clemens). As the First World War approaches Christopher's life only becomes more complicated.

Widely disliked and envied, the young woman is soon discovered by Poirot to have had plenty of enemies, many of whom turn out to be on board... In 'The ABC Murders' an anonymous serial killer has been taking his victims in alphabetical order. The police believe the murders to be the work of a lunatic but Poirot soon realises the killer is much more methodical than they first thought...

Set in the mid-1960s, the show follows Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) in his younger years as a police constable. Working alongside his senior partner Detective Inspector Fred Thursday (Roger Allam) and Sergeant James Strange (Sean Rigby), Morse engages in a number of investigations around Oxford, England.
