The book presents a complete new methodology for the on-board
measurements and modeling of gas concentrations in turbocharged
diesel engines. It provides the readers with a comprehensive review
of the state-of-art in NOx and lambda estimation and describes new
important achievements accomplished by the author. These include:
the online characterization of lambda and NOx sensors; the
development of control-oriented models of lambda and NOx emissions;
the design of computationally efficient updating algorithms; and,
finally, the application and evaluation of the methods on-board.
Because of its technically oriented approach and innovative
findings on both control-oriented algorithms and virtual sensing
and observation, this book offers a practice-oriented guide for
students, researchers and professionals working in the field of
control and information engineering.
This book provides systematic comparative research of antifraud
laws and context at EU countries using a Artificial Neural Network
(ANN) model to predict illegal activities in ERDF and CF. It also
details a map of corruption risk with the goal of reducing
corruption and fraud in the management of European Regional
Development Funds and Cohesion Funds through the incorporation of
adequate measures and strategies derived from the resulting of
EUMODFRAUD EU Project. The authors analyse the specific situations,
observe the risks and finally, propose an innovative method that
allows predicting fraudulent acts, which will be of interest to
both academics, researchers, and policy makers in financial
services, public finance, and financial crime.
In this book, contributors analyze the knowledge about human
mobility, its interaction with news and social media, and the way
this impacts the attitudes of local societies and the integration
of immigrants. After a general contextualization of migration
dynamics in Southern Europe and its impact during the 21st Century,
the central chapters of the book offer the results of three
scientific studies conducted in Spain, Italy, and Greece about the
representation of migration in news media and social platforms.
These studies consist of an analysis of the frames used in news
photographs about migrants and refugees in relevant news outlets; a
computational study of online hate speech in social media based on
racism and xenophobia; and a comprehensive qualitative evaluation
of the perceptions that journalists specializing in migration may
have about the interconnection between migration and journalism.
Scholars of communication, migration studies, and journalism will
find this book of particular interest.

The use of the chassis dynamometer test cells has been an integral
part of the vehicle development and validation process for several
decades, focusing on the delivery of clean, efficient vehicles
globally. This type of testing involves specialists from different
fields such as mechanics, ventilation and refrigeration, among
others. Not all of them necessarily experts in automotive
engineering. As the demands on chassis dynamometer testing become
more exacting and more diverse, the challenge of delivering
effective installations and operating procedures becomes ever
greater. Chassis Dynamometer Testing sets out to gather knowledge
from multiple groups of specialists to better understand the
testing challenges associated with the vehicle chassis dynamometer
test cells, and enable informed design and use of these facilities.
Chassis Dynamometer Testing analyses the main factors affecting a
vehicle in order to closely reproduce them in a testing facility.
It provides complete guidance on how these tests should be
performed, including the requirements affecting the test cells
themselves so that they can be fully optimized.
