This is the HARDBACK version. From 2000 to its final episode in 2007, Gilmore Girls raised the bar for television writing, redefined the dramatic comedy, and cultivated a dedicated fan base not seen since the heights of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. However, unlike Buffy, little has been published about what went on behind-the-scenes of Gilmore Girl. Until now. The Gilmore Girls Companion provides the first detailed account of the creation of this groundbreaking series, based on dozens of exclusive interviews with the actors and behind-the-camera talent who brought Stars Hollow to life. "No Ordinary Time" is a monumental work, a brilliantly conceived chronicle of one of the most vibrant and revolutionary periods in the history of the United States. With an extraordinary collection of details, Goodwin masterfully weaves together a striking number of story lines--Eleanor and Franklin's marriage and remarkable partnership, Eleanor's life as First Lady, and FDR's White House and its impact on America as well as on a world at war. Goodwin effectively melds these details and stories into an unforgettable and intimate portrait of Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt and of the time during which a new, modern America was born.
Triple bill of the vampire horror film series. In 'The Lost Boys' (1987), two brothers move to a new town and soon fall in with the wrong crowd - a gang of punks who also happen to be blood-swilling vampires. The older brother (Jason Patric) proves easy prey and is soon a fully paid-up member of the undead. But the younger brother (Corey Haim) is made of tougher stuff and, along with a couple of friends, decides to make a stand. Pretty soon the suburbs start swinging to the sound of teen vampire combat. In 'The Lost Boys - The Tribe' (2008), a young girl named Nicole (Autumn Reeser) falls in with a pack of vampire surfers after moving to California with her brother Chris (Tad Hilgenbrink). Seduced by the leader of the gang, Autumn soon realises that there are forces in nature that could destroy everything she has ever cared for. 'The Lost Boys - The Thirst' (2010), sees Corey Feldman reprise his role as Edgar Frog, a down and out vampire hunter who is asked by writer Gwen Lieber (Tanit Phoenix) to rescue her son from a newborn army. Gwen offers to pay Edgar a substantial fee for his services and he agrees to take on the dangerous mission. Realising the risks involved, Edgar asks his brother, Alan (Jamison Newlander), to assist him.
Alfonso Gomez-Rejon directs this sequel to the 1976 film of the same name. 66 years after the town of Texarkana was hit by a series of unexplained murders by a suspect known only as The Phantom, the small town is having its annual drive-in screening of the film 'The Town That Dreaded Sundown'. While watching the film, teenagers Jami (Addison Timlin) and Corey (Spencer Treat Clark) realise they could be having more fun on their own. As they drive to a secluded area and start to get intimate, Jami spots a mysterious figure lurking outside the car window. After witnessing Corey's brutal murder, Jami recounts her story to the town's police who fear they have a copycat murderer on their hands. Is it simply an impressionable person admiring the work of The Phantom or could there be more to this reappearance of the infamous killer?
Arrogant heiress Joanna Stayton (Goldie Hawn) lands herself in a heap of trouble when she falls overboard during a cruise with her husband. She is rescued by handyman Dean Proffitt (Kurt Russell), a single parent in desperate need of help with his four obnoxious kids, and as she has lost her memory, is in no position to object when he claims her as his wife. Directed by Garry Marshall ('Pretty Woman', 'Runaway Bride').
Two sets of identical twin girls are accidentally mixed up at birth and switched - one 'pair' go to a rich family, the other to poor farmers. Years later, the poor twins head to New York for a showdown with a corporation which plans to wipe out their home town, only to find it headed by their real twin sisters. Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin play two twins each in this zany comedy.
