Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
This book (hardcover) is part of the TREDITION CLASSICS. It
contains classical literature works from over two thousand years.
Most of these titles have been out of print and off the bookstore
shelves for decades. The book series is intended to preserve the
cultural legacy and to promote the timeless works of classical
literature. Readers of a TREDITION CLASSICS book support the
mission to save many of the amazing works of world literature from
oblivion. With this series, tredition intends to make thousands of
international literature classics available in printed format again
- worldwide.
This collection of essays responds to the urgent call in the
humanities to go beyond the act of negative critique which, so far,
has been the dominant form of intellectual inquiry in academia. The
contributors take their inspiration from Bruno Latour's pragmatic,
relational approach and his philosophy of hybrid world where
culture is immanent to nature and knowledge is tied to the things
it co-creates. In such a world, nature, society, and discourse
relate to, rather than negate, each other. The 11 essays, ranging
from early modern humanism and modern theorization of literature to
contemporary political ecology and animal studies, propose new
productive ways of thinking, reading, and writing with, not
against, the world. In carrying out concrete practices that are
inclusive, rather than exclusive, contributors strive to exemplify
a form of scholarship that might be better attuned to the concerns
of our post-humanist era.
City boy Joe doesn't think much will happen to him when he spends
the school holidays with his grandparents in the Scottish
highlands. But he's in for a surprise almost straightaway: the
hills seem moody, the trees shiver as if whispering secrets, and
the weather seems to change, in an instant, from clear blue skies
to torrential rain. There's a lot to get used to - quite apart from
the unfamiliar cows and sheep and old-fashioned ways of living.
When Joe makes friends with Robbie, the only other child nearby, he
thinks he'll have a friend to depend on, at least. But Robbie
proves difficult to get to know, and he soon leads Joe into an even
deeper mystery from one hundred and fifty years ago, involving a
cache of stolen gold, a dangerous ghost seeking revenge, and a
promise that's too valuable to break...

As mothers, we understand the plight of parents when that certain
age hits, and it is time to take away one of our child's prized
possessions. Giving up the "binky," "paci," or "dummy" can be a
struggle for even the most patient of nurturers. We have found a
way to make this experience a joyful and adventurous journey. With
a rhyming pattern and easy-to-read format, this wondrous children's
book weaves fun and whimsy as pacifiers, with the help of a trusted
friend, make their way to distant lands and newborns. We are
excited about the opportunity to introduce this unique concept to
children everywhere.
Leave your family peace of mind with this new approach to wills and
estates
Whenever Elizabeth Arnold tells people her specialty, they
usually share their own family dilemmas. Maybe Dad left behind a
misguided or inadequate will. Maybe Aunt Sue nabbed the vase that
wasn't in Grandma's will and Aunt Pat hasn't spoken a kind word to
her since. Maybe Sis can't decide who should get the kids in case
of a tragedy, so she doesn't have any will at all. Such tales of
woe have nothing to do with legal or tax problems. The real issues
behind wills gone wrong--or wills that never get off the
ground--are the human ones.
"Creating the Good Will" tackles the important human dimensions
that most books about wills fail to address. Arnold teaches her
readers that wills are not just legal documents but also heartfelt
emotional tools.
