The Handbook of Behavioral Operations Management - Social and Psychological Dynamics in Production and Service Settings... The Handbook of Behavioral Operations Management - Social and Psychological Dynamics in Production and Service Settings (Hardcover)
Elliot Bendoly, Wout Van Wezel, Daniel G Bachrach
R5,654 Discovery Miles 56 540 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Over the last decade there has been an explosion of academic interest in the study of Behavioral Operations (Behavioral Ops). Simultaneous concerns have emerged about the adequacy with which now established Behavioral Ops phenomena are dealt with in degree-granting programs and corporate training agendas. Concerns stem from two points: (1) Pedagogical lessons regarding human behavioral are largely cast in the perspectives and terminology of underlying social/psychological theories. This has traditionally made it difficult for teachers of operations management content to link such knowledge to OM teaching plans and materials. (2) Games are seen as a major contribution to Behavioral Operations education, but experiments as described in literature are usually used for scientific research, and often difficult to replicate in teaching settings due to the use of unique proprietary software or insufficient descriptions of methods and materials used. Prior to now, no comprehensive teaching-oriented overview of Behavioral Operations has been available. The Handbook of Behavioral Operations fills this gap, providing easy to access insights into why associated behavioral phenomena exist in specific production and service settings, ready-to-play games and activities that allow instructors to demonstrate the phenomena in class settings, and applicable prescriptions for practice. By design the text serves a dual role as a desk/training reference to those practitioners already in the field, and presents a comprehensive framework for viewing behavioral operations from a systems perspective. As an interdisciplinary book relating the dynamics of human behavior to operations management, the Handbook is an essential resource for practitioners seeking to develop greater system understanding among their workers, as well as for instructors interested in emphasizing the practical relevance of behavior in operational settings.

Visual Analytics for Management - Translational Science and Applications in Practice (Paperback): Elliot Bendoly, Sacha Clark Visual Analytics for Management - Translational Science and Applications in Practice (Paperback)
Elliot Bendoly, Sacha Clark
R2,036 Discovery Miles 20 360 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This book provides students with an in-depth understanding of the concepts, frameworks and processes used to analyze and present visual data for better decision-making. Expert contributors provide guidance in translating complex concepts from large data sets and how this translation drives management practice. The book's first part provides a descriptive consideration of state-of-the-art science in visual design. The second part complements the first with a rich set of cases and visual examples, illustrating development and best practice to provide students with real-world context. Through their presentation of modern scientific principles, the editors inspire structured discussions of audience and design, recognizing differences in need, bias and effective processes across contexts and stakeholders. This cutting-edge resource will be of value to students in business analytics, business communication and management science classes, who will learn to be capable managers through the effective and direct visual communication of data. Researchers and practitioners will also find this an engaging and informative book.

Strategic ERP Extension and Use (Hardcover, New): Elliot Bendoly, F.Robert Jacobs Strategic ERP Extension and Use (Hardcover, New)
Elliot Bendoly, F.Robert Jacobs
R1,941 R1,791 Discovery Miles 17 910 Save R150 (8%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

"Strategic ERP Extension and Use looks beyond the pain and cost of ERP implementation to examine how ERP systems are being used and enhanced. It takes us on a fruitful tour of big and small companies, of manufacturing and a host of business functions, of plain vanilla systems and bevies of bolt-ons, and of single locations and entire supply chains. As we tour we get a glimpse of how ERP is evolving in the ever-inventive hands of its users." --Roger Schmenner, Indiana University and Associate Dean, Indianapolis Programs
"A satisfying mixture of empirical findings, intelligent analysis, and informed speculation. . . . For researchers there is a wealth of issues ranging from developing within-firm capabilities to improving the payoff from external linkages. For the practitioner there are analyses of successes and failures, guidelines for auditing ERP systems, and a glimpse of the future." --Clay Whybark, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
