More than 30 international artists, including melanie bonajo, Laure Prouvost, Julian Charrière, Otobong Nkanga, Marianna Simnett, Ernesto Neto and the collective SUPERFLEX, explore the complex interdependencies between humans, nature and technology, and search for solutions, from plants as data repositories, algae as energy sources and microorganisms as empathic dialogue partners. Including all parts of the museum collections as well as new outdoor installations at the National Garden Show BUGA, the book presents various models of how to use the means of art to reshape the coexistence of species and emphasizes the hope-giving potential of creativity and innovation.

It calls not only for closer engagement with the natural sciences but also for a synthetic approach bringing together insights from the various subdisciplines in the humanities and social sciences which have addressed themselves to ecological questions in the past. This book is an introduction to, and structured survey of, the attempts that have been made to take the measure of the Anthropocene, and explores some of the paradigmatic problems which it raises. The difficulties of an introduction to the Anthropocene lie not only in the disciplinary breadth of the subject, but also in the rapid pace at which the surrounding debates have been, and still are, unfolding. Immunogenicity of Biopharmaceuticals is the first book to comprehensively address the potential of an immune response to biopharmaceuticals. It is intended to give a broad overview of the current state-of-the-art regarding this subject. The chapters range from an overview of the immune system and factors that may trigger the immune system, via detection of antibodies and clinical implications, to various case examples and the regulatory view on immunogenicity.

A particular issue for biopharmaceuticals that has not been addressed comprehensively in any book, is the potential of an immune response to the biopharmaceutical product. That is, the human body marks the drug as a foreign body, and develops antibodies against the drug. Beyond the images of atomic apocalypse that have haunted us for decades, we are dazzled now by an array of possible catastrophe scenarios: climate change, financial crises, environmental disasters, technological meltdowns-perennial subjects of literature, film, popular culture, and political debate. Is this preoccupation with catastrophe questionable alarmism or complacent passivity? Or are there certain truths that can be revealed only in apocalypse? In The Future as Catastrophe, Eva Horn offers a novel critique of the modern fascination with disaster, which she treats as a symptom of our relationship to the future. While historical truth remains hidden from the public, Eva Horn finds in political fiction, which serves as both an indicator and a tool, a means to analyze political secrets. Starting with a general theory of treason and military intelligence as a specific type of political knowledge, the book charts the history of intelligence gathering from 1900 to 9/11. "The Secret War" analyzes literary and cinematic depictions of espionage from Rudyard Kipling and T. E. Lawrence to John Le Carre and Steven Spielberg. Horn considers these fictional accounts against the historical development of Western secret services from their inception in World War I to their struggle against current terrorist networks. Wahrend der Krise wurden zahlreiche Banken durch Staatshilfe vor einer Insolvenz bewahrt. Durch Staatskredite besteht ein Zusammenhang zwischen Bank- und Staatsschulden, der negativ auf gestutzte Banken zuruckgewirkt. Durch die Bankrettungen mit offentlichen Mitteln wurden zudem Steuerzahler an den hohen Kosten beteiligt. Aufgrund dessen wurde auf dem EU-Gipfeltreffen am 28. und 29. Juni 2012 in Brussel ein neuer Ansatz fur ein effizienteres Krisenmanagement beschlossen: Die Einfuhrung einer europaischen Bankenunion. Diese Reform besteht aus drei Grundbausteinen. Ein einheitlicher Aufsichtsmechanismus in Verbindung mit einem einheitlichen Regelwerk soll homogene Aufsichtsstandards und deren Anwendung gewahrleisten. Ausserdem soll durch eine einheitliche Bankenaufsicht ermoglicht werden, dass Banken direkte Finanzhilfen von dem Euro-Rettungsschirm" erhalten. Dazu soll eine europaische Bankenaufsicht etabliert werden, die bei der Europaischen Zentralbank angesiedelt werden soll. Zukunftig wird sie fur alle aufsichtsrechtlichen Themen, z.B. die Lizenzvergabe an Banken oder die Uberprufung der Einhaltung von Eigenkapitalvorschriften, verantwortlich sein. Der zweite Bestandteil der Bankenunion ist ein einheitlicher Restrukturierungs- und Abwicklungsmechanismus. Auf diese Weise sollen die Kosten fur Bankrettungen privatisiert und der Steuerzahler geschutzt werden. Fur die Teilnahme an dieser Wahrungsreform wurde vorausgesetzt, dass die jeweiligen Mitgliedsstaaten, die im Vertrag von Maastricht stehenden Konvergenzkriterien1 erfullten. Durch diesen Beschluss sollte sichergestellt werden, dass nur Lander mit einer stabilitatsorientierten Wirtschaftspolitik und mit einem nachgewiesenen stabilen Preisniveau Mitglieder der Eurozone werden. Gemessen an der Bevolkerungszahl ist diese Wahrungsunion mit rund 330 Millionen Einwohnern aus derzeit siebzehn Mitgliedsstaaten der grosste Wirtschaftsraum der Welt.2 Trotz einer einheitlichen Wahrung bestanden jedoch damals wie auch heute erhebliche Entwicklungsunterschiede zwischen den Landern. Der Umfang dieses Wahrungsgebietes und die Heterogenitat der Mitgliedslander stellen eine besondere Herausforderung an die Eurozone dar.3 Insbesondere seit der Subprime-Krise in den USA und der Euroschuldenkrise stellen die Europaische Zentralbank (EZB) und ihre Geldpolitik ein zentrales und oftmals kritisiertes Thema dar. Diesbezuglich beschaftigt sich die vorliegende Arbeit mit der Strategie und den Instrumenten der EZB sowie der aktuellen Geldpolitik
