R& D, Innovation and Competitiveness in the European Chemical
Industry explores the science & technology base and the dynamic
performance of the European "system of innovation" in the chemical
industry, with particular attention to its contribution to economic
growth through innovation and competitiveness, and its ability to
translate its research into commercially useful products. It also
analyses the forces that encourage the diffusion of chemical
innovations on downstream user industries and among large and small
firms. The studies presented in this book represent an analysis of
the issues and questions raised by the Green Paper on Innovation
presented by the European Commission, for the specific case of the
European chemical industry.
R& D, Innovation and Competitiveness in the European Chemical
Industry will be of interest to industry and government experts
related to the chemical industry, scholars; both faculty and
graduate students interested in growth, corporate strategy and the
management of innovation.
This book addresses existing challenges and opportunities related
to tourism for people with disabilities. A niche market that is
largely underdeveloped, its potentials are also often
underestimated. It examines the strategies, policies, and
initiatives - at regional, national, and international levels - to
foster the development of accessible tourism for people with
disabilities. It does so by examining the different social,
cultural, legal, and information/interactive barriers that
represent important constraints to welfare, inclusion, integration,
and promotion of civil rights, which bring difficulties and
detriment to tourists with disabilities. Additionally, the book
analyzes the characteristics and dynamics of that portion of the
tourism industry that is more oriented to meet the distinctive
travel demand of people with disabilities. In doing so, the book
explores how preferences for travel services and facilities of
people with disabilities differ from preferences of tourists
without disabilities. All these issues are addressed from both a
theoretical and a practical perspective by adopting a
multidisciplinary approach, which leverages from the fields of
management, economics, and statistical analysis. The book can be
useful for a broad audience made of both researchers and
practitioners (among which tourism companies and corporate
trainers) who are expected to deal with the topic of tourism
management.
This book provides a broad overview of Information and
Communication Technology (ICT)-supported innovation both on an
evidence-based level, a theoretical and a methodological level. It
presents multi-disciplinary perspectives on organizational
innovation in enterprises and the public sector, and on the
ubiquitous social media-based user innovations. The book especially
highlights innovation in knowledge work and human-computer
interaction, innovation of and in socio-technical systems, and
user-based innovation in public services. It draws upon evidence
from various areas of application, including innovative mobility
and the factories of the future. The studies presented here will be
helpful both for innovation scholars and practitioners in industry
- as well as innovators at large - in their current and future
studies and undertakings.
