THE go-to book for children to learn the facts of life. Aimed primarily
at female readers, the book includes discussion of sex and gender
identity, and sexuality. Using frank but clear and friendly language
and pictures, this book explains all the changes that people with

periods are and how to handle them, all the way to mental and emotional
challenges that come with growing older and becoming more independent.
The book is aimed at readers age 10 and up, who are likely just at the
very start of their own puberty journey.
Material is based on the original best-seller by Sue Meredith, but with
new writing and expert input from professional sex educators and gender
consultants.
Discover the remarkable history of Dupont Circle in Washington,
D.C.
"Washington seems the eternal and unchanging Federal City with its
grand avenues and stately monuments. Yet the city that locals once
knew lavish window displays at Woodies, supper at the grand Raleigh
Hotel and a Friday night game at Griffith Stadium is gone. Author
John DeFerrari investigates the bygone institutions of the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries with an engaging collection of
new vignettes and reader favorites from his blog "The Streets of
Washington." From the raucous age of burlesque at the Gayety
Theater and the once bustling Center Market to the mystery of
Suter's Tavern and the disappearance of the Key Mansion in
Georgetown, DeFerrari recalls the lost Washington, D.C., of
yesteryear.

This indispensable book offers a concise comparative introduction
to international commercial arbitration. With reference to recent
case law from leading jurisdictions and up-to-date rules revisions,
International Commercial Arbitration provides a comparative
analysis of the issues raised in arbitration, from the time of
drafting of the arbitration clause to the rendering of the arbitral
award and the post-award stage. Combining perspectives from both
practice and academia, Franco Ferrari, Friedrich Rosenfeld and
Consultant Editor John Fellas examine all the key points of
international commercial arbitration. After introductory remarks on
the applicable normative framework, the book covers arbitration
agreements and their enforcement, the initiation of proceedings and
the constitution of the tribunal, the taking of evidence, issues
arising in complex arbitrations, as well as the award and the
post-award regime. Scholars and students of international
commercial arbitration across the globe will find this book
invaluable for its comparative analysis. It will also be most
useful for arbitration practitioners and judges interested in
learning how jurisdictions differ in their approaches to
arbitration proceedings.

Alex Gibney directs this documentary exploring the controversial
career of American cyclist Lance Armstrong. Gibney followed
Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France champion, on his return to
racing in 2009. Armstrong's goal in returning was to defy
persistent allegations that his past victories were in part due to
doping, but in 2012 he was handed a lifetime ban from cycling after
being found guilty of taking performance-enhancing drugs, something
he finally admitted in 2013. The documentary includes interviews
with Armstrong, who offers his side of the story, as well as
contributions from cycling contemporaries and those who follow the
sport.

This incisive book is an indispensable guide to the New York
Convention's uniform regime on recognition and enforcement of
foreign arbitral awards. Framing the Convention as a uniform law
instrument, the book analyses case law from major arbitration
jurisdictions to explain its scope of application, the duty to
recognize arbitral agreements and awards as well as their
limitations, and the procedure and formal requirements for
enforcing arbitral awards. Combining insight from arbitration
practice with perspectives from private international law, the book
underlines the importance of the Convention's foundation in a
treaty of international law, arguing that this entails a
requirement to interpret the key concepts it sets forth based on
international law rules of interpretation. However, it also
demonstrates where municipal laws are relevant and discusses the
private international law principles through which these instances
can be identified. Addressing one of the core treaties of
international arbitration, this will be crucial reading for legal
practitioners and judges working in the field. It will also prove
valuable to scholars and students of commercial and private
international law, particularly those focused on cross-border
disputes and arbitration.

Responding to global events, including the international financial
crisis (IFC) and the COVID-19 pandemic, central banks and the
monetary regimes in many Latin American countries responded with
actions to mitigate the worst impacts. The authors in this book
focus on the recent trends of monetary policy in Latin America and
analyze how the actions that were taken have affected the economic
performance of these countries. The book is composed of 11 chapters
that analyze, theoretically and empirically, the central banks'
actions and the monetary regimes of the following countries:
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. As
most of these countries implemented inflation-targeting regimes in
the 1990s and 2000s, a special focus will be given on these
experiences and how central banks dealt with the IFC and COVID-19
crises. Academic researchers and students of economics will find a
wealth of knowledge contained in these chapters, as will anyone
looking for a better understanding of the economy of this important
region.
Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) are wireless communication networks
organized in a mesh topology with radio capabilities. These
networks can self-form and self-heal and are not restricted to a
specific technology or communication protocol. They provide
flexible yet reliable connectivity that cellular networks cannot
deliver. Thanks to technological advances in machine learning,
software defined radio, UAV/UGV, big data, IoT and smart cities,
wireless mesh networks have found much renewed interest for
communication network applications. This edited book covers state
of the art research innovations and future directions in this
field. WMNs offer attractive communication solutions in difficult
environments such as emergency situations, battlefield
surveillance, field operations, disaster recovery, tunnels, oil
rigs, high-speed mobile-video applications on board transport,
VoIP, and self-organizing internet access for communities. The main
topics covered include BLL-based mesh networks, body sensor
networks, seamless IoT mobile sensing through Wi-Fi mesh
networking, software defined radio for wireless mesh networks,
UAV-to-ground multi-hop communication using backpressure and
FlashLinQ-based algorithms, unmanned aerial vehicle relay networks,
multimedia content delivery in wireless mesh networking, adaptive
fuzzy agents in big data and multi-sensor environments and AI-aided
resource sharing for WMNs. This is a useful reference for ICT
networking engineers, researchers, scientists, engineers, advanced
students and lecturers in both academia and industry working on
wireless communications and WMNs. It is also relevant to
developers, designers and manufacturers of WMNs and wireless sensor
networks (WSNs); and scientists and engineers working on
applications of WNNs and WSNs.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) allows clinicians to monitor
patients remotely via a network of wearable or implantable devices.
The devices are embedded with software or sensors to enable them to
send and receive data via the internet so that healthcare
professionals can monitor health data such as vital statistics,
metabolic rates or drug delivery regimens, and can provide advice
or treatment plans based on this real-world, real-time data. This
edited book discusses key IoT technologies that facilitate and
enhance this process, such as computer algorithms, network
architecture, wireless communications, and network security.
Providing a systemic review of trends, challenges and future
directions of IoMT technologies, the book examines applications
such as breast cancer monitoring systems, patient-centric systems
for handling, tracking and monitoring virus variants, and
video-based solutions for monitoring babies. The book discusses
machine learning techniques for the management of clinical data and
includes security issues such as the use of blockchain technology.
Written by a range of international researchers, this book is a
great resource for computer engineering researchers and
practitioners in the fields of data mining, machine learning,
artificial intelligence and the IoT in the healthcare sector.
