A stirring look at the early life of Johnny Cash, from his harsh
but music-filled childhood to the first flush of stardom.
There's never been anyone like music legend Johnny Cash. His deep
voice is instantly recognizable, and his heartfelt songs resonate
with listeners of all ages and backgrounds. G. Neri captures
Johnny's story in beautiful free verse, portraying an ordinary boy
with an extraordinary talent who grew up in extreme poverty, faced
incredible challenges, and ultimately found his calling by always
being true to the gift of his voice. A. G. Ford's luscious
paintings of the dramatic southern landscape of Johnny Cash's
childhood illuminate this portrait of a legend, taking us from his
humble beginnings to his enormous success on the world stage.

In recent years, the field of parallel manipulators has expanded
significantly in applications requiring high precision, loading
capacity, accuracy, rigidity and high velocity. Stewart platform is
the most common type of parallel manipulators. Limited workspace,
complex kinematic/kinetic solutions, singularities inside the
workspace are the main problems encountered with regard to this
type of robots. In this book, using some design/engineering
software and programming language, Stewart platform is investigated
in details by modeling and simulation, dynamic analysis and
singularity detection. The effects of geometric and kinematic
parameters on the workspace are determined for different
orientations of the moving platform. The actuator forces computed
on the workspace boundaries are compared for different joint
positions. Singularity analysis of Stewart platform is also
performed considering many aspects based on trajectory planning. In
this manner, a complete package of analysis focused on Stewart
platform is presented in this book. The reader can benefit from the
obtained results and conclusions which may be utilized for design,
analysis, simulation and manufacturing purposes.
Eleven-year-old Roger is trying to make sense of his classmate
Robert "Yummy" Sandifer's death, but first he has to make sense of
Yummy's life. Yummy could be as tough as a pit bull sometimes.
Other times he was as sweet as the sugary treats he loved to eat.
Was Yummy some sort of monster, or just another kid?
As Roger searches for the truth, he finds more and more
questions. How did Yummy end up in so much trouble? Did he really
kill someone? And why do all the answers seem to lead back to a
gang the same gang Roger's older brother belongs to?
Yummy: The Last Days of a Southside Shorty is a compelling
dramatization based on events that occurred in Chicago in 1994.
This gritty exploration of youth gang life will force readers to
question their own understandings of good and bad, right and
wrong."
