This book discusses the Indian scenario concerning dust allergy, presenting case studies that reveal the practical aspects of allergies. A gradual increase in the incidence and prevalence of different allergic manifestations has been reported from various parts of the world including several developing countries like India, where the problem has recently surfaced due to the unplanned urbanization, rapid industrialization, metamorphic changes in the environment, and increased air pollution, as well as changes in life style, particularly the adoption of Western life styles and eating habits in the name of so-called modern living. The book is divided into the following chapters: Allergy - what is it?, Allergy - Fact File; Possible allergens in our surroundings; Mechanism of allergic reaction; House dust allergy - an environmental enigma ; The mighty mites; Dermatophagoides - the potent indoor allergen ; Dust mite allergy - evaluation procedure; House dust allergy - an Indian perspective ; House dust allergy in Kolkata - a case study; Allergy & heredity; Allergic manifestations; Diagnostic procedures; and Treatment & prevention.

The living legend of modern wildlife biology, Dr. George Schaller called them "Mountain Monarchs." Ungulates of the high altitudes are fascinating creatures with great adaptability to the harsh climatic conditions and extremely tough terrain. Habitat destruction, hunting and other such anthropogenic pressures pose a severe threat to the long-term survival of these little known species. This book represents the unknown facts about the ecology of mountain ungulates in the least- explored wilderness areas around the third highest peak of the world, Mt. Khangchendzonga, situated in the eastern Himalayan biodiversity hot-spot. Apart from distributions and abundances, this book also elucidates about the habitat use patterns of these species. Species distribution models and their implications for studying such rare and elusive species are discussed thoroughly here. This book also explains how to monitor these species in future and what steps can be taken to ensure their long term survival. To maintain the ecological balance of this fragile mountain landscape, the facts and findings described in this book can help the present and future students, managers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Fuzzy sets are sets whose elements have degrees of membership. Fuzzy set theory was formalized by Professor Lotfi Zadeh at the University of California in 1965 as an extension of the classical notion of set. In classical set theory, the membership of elements in a set is assessed in binary terms according to a bivalent condition an element either belongs or does not belong to the set. Fuzzy sets generalize classical sets are special cases of the membership functions of fuzzy sets, if the latter only take values 0 or 1. Classical bivalent sets are in fuzzy set theory usually called crisp sets. On the other hand fuzzy set is more specified than crisp set. It can take a decision between membership grade 0 to 1, i.e. unit interval 0, 1]. This book attempts to fill the needs of the algorithms of Newton's method, Fixed-Point Iteration method and Bisection method which are used to solve fuzzy non-linear equations for the linear fuzzy real number. The procedures to obtain solutions of different types of fuzzy linear equations have also been discussed. The book has been outlined into four chapters.
