and learning equips South African teachers with strategies to cope
with the demands of the classroom. With content that is practical
and relevant in its approach, the book aims to develop the skills
required to teach in a thoughtful and learning-centered manner.
SAIDE getting practical is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate
students taking courses in Professional Studies or doing Teaching
practice modules. It is also suitable for teachers' continuing
professional development. Numerous case studies, activities and
exercises ensure a practical focus and demonstrate different
teaching strategies.
This book, first published in 1955, examines the total economic,
political and social breakdown that Germany suffered in the last
year of the Second World War and in its immediate aftermath, and
the beginnings of the recovery in the Western half of the
now-divided nation. The process of ‘denazification’ is
analysed, as are the policies of the occupying powers and the
subsequent political stability and economic expansion.

Within the vast reception history of Martin Heidegger's
philosophical thought poets, novelists, and playwrights have
occupied a central place. This collection of essays opens up new
perspectives by tracing the manifold, often surprising ways in
which Heideggerian concepts, motifs, and concerns have been taken
up in literary and poetic writing since the middle of the 20th
century. In their contributions, scholars from the Americas, Asia,
and Europe explore intellectual constellations between Heidegger
and selected literary figures such as John Ashbery, Julia de
Burgos, Paul Celan, Elfriede Jelinek, and Velimir Khlebnikov. The
volume unveils the immense creativity that crystallizes in these
poetic and literary traces and disseminations of Heidegger's
thinking. Hence, it points to new and fruitful ways to critically
intervene in current philosophical and literary debates.

Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made

Many of the stories included in this book may be considered
treasures that have yet to be presented to the Jewish and general
public. Some versions of these tales have been published in
different anthologies and languages over the years, but most are
basically unknown. The author includes stories from varied oral and
written sources, mainly Czech, Slovak, German, some Yiddish, as
well as Polish and Hungarian. "Storytelling," says Nagarajan, "is
perhaps the only tool that creates a path leading through the many
layers of the past, shedding light on it without destroying the
mystery and magic." Certain elements in these tales point to
influences that came from different sources and many relate to the
emancipation of the Czech Jewry. Unlike the Jews in other parts of
Central and Eastern Europe, the Czech Jews were more susceptible to
the changing times. It is obvious, nevertheless, that despite the
foreign elements that emerge from the narratives, faith, and deep
attachment to Judaism were never lost but rather provided a source
of strength even for those who had lost their way. The reader will
encounter a variety of topics that span several centuries. Some are
tales of fantasy and imagination while others lean on reality and
fact rather than legend. A few are based on contemporary personal
events and reminiscences. They include love stories ranging from
the romantic and innocent to the obsessive and misguided. The joy,
euphoria, fear, guilt, sweetness, and bitterness of these tales
become obvious within the context of a tale or lies hidden between
the lines. Multiple narratives describe a copious array of feelings
people have for themselves and others, such as children, parents,
and friends. Various tales convey the characters' deep belief and
trust in God. Some are tragic and morbid, some radiate with the
pulse of life, some are mysterious and puzzling, and others bring
us laughter and amusement while at the same time conveying serious
life lessons. All the stories in Jewish Tales from Eastern Europ"

Over the past few years a certain shift of focus within the theory
of algebras of generalized functions (in the sense of J. F.
Colombeau) has taken place. Originating in infinite dimensional
analysis and initially applied mainly to problems in nonlinear
partial differential equations involving singularities, the theory
has undergone a change both in in ternal structure and scope of
applicability, due to a growing number of applications to questions
of a more geometric nature. The present book is intended to provide
an in-depth presentation of these develop ments comprising its
structural aspects within the theory of generalized functions as
well as a (selective but, as we hope, representative) set of
applications. This main purpose of the book is accompanied by a
number of sub ordinate goals which we were aiming at when arranging
the material included here. First, despite the fact that by now
several excellent mono graphs on Colombeau algebras are available,
we have decided to give a self-contained introduction to the field
in Chapter 1. Our motivation for this decision derives from two
main features of our approach. On the one hand, in contrast to
other treatments of the subject we base our intro duction to the
field on the so-called special variant of the algebras, which makes
many of the fundamental ideas of the field particularly transpar
ent and at the same time facilitates and motivates the introduction
of the more involved concepts treated later in the chapter."
The aim of this book is to interpret all the laws of classical
electromagnetism in a modern coherent way. In a typical
undergraduate course using vector analysis, the students finally
end up with Maxwell's equations, when they are often exhausted
after a very long course, in which full discussions are properly
given of the full range of applications of individual laws, each of
which is important in its own right. As a result, many students do
not appreciate how limited is the experimental evidence on the
basis of which Maxwell's equations are normally developed and they
do not always appre ciate the underlying unity of classical
electromagnetism, before they go on to graduate courses in which
Maxwell's equations are taken as axiomatic. This book is designed
to be used between such an undergraduate course and graduate
courses. It is written by an experimental physicist and is intended
to be used by physicists, electrical engineers and applied
mathematicians."

Time: The Official Cookbook, featuring recipes from all your
favorite characters and kingdoms. In the Founders' Island Library,
Finn discovered the remains of an old cookbook filled with dishes
such as "lasagna" and "boiled eggs." And he was pretty sure that
the cookbook had belonged to his mom at some point. Weird. But a
lot of the pages had been lost to the cruel sands of time. So Finn
took it upon himself to fill up the book with as many crazy
delicious food ideas as he could. And since that only filled around
six pages, he recruited Jake, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum, and
the other citizens of Ooo to help complete the cookbook. There was
pouring! There was mixing! There was a pasta-related Wizard Battle!

This book presents Maxwell's equations and the laws of classical
electromagnetism starting from the equations for the electric and
magnetic fields due to an accelerating classical point charge. A
microscopic perspective is used to interpret the electric field due
to a current element, the origin of induced electromagnetic fields
and detached electric field lines, motional electromagnetic fields,
the mode of action of inductors and capacitors in AC circuits,
conduction current flow, the Biot-Savart law, etc. A review of
energy methods is presented in a way consistent with this
microscopic approach, leading up to discussions of the conservation
laws for a system of spatially separated moving charges and the
Poynting vector hypothesis. After extending Maxwell's equations to
field points inside dielectrics and magnetic materials, a brief
review of special relativity is given stressing those topics that
illustrate the essential unity of classical electromagnetism and
special relativity. Audience: This textbook is designed to be used
between a course in classical electromagnetism in which vector
analysis has been introduced, and an advanced graduate course in
electromagnetism. It will also be of interest to research
physicists and to graduate students as a complement to more
traditional courses.
hinterfragen.
