Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks - Futuristic Technologies for Interactive Modelling, Dimensioning, and Optimization (Hardcover):... Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks - Futuristic Technologies for Interactive Modelling, Dimensioning, and Optimization (Hardcover)
Muhammad Arif, Guojun Wang, Mazin Abed Mohammed, Md Tabrez Nafis
R3,057 Discovery Miles 30 570 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

With the evolution of technology and sudden growth in the number of smart vehicles, traditional Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) face several technical challenges in deployment and management due to less flexibility, scalability, poor connectivity, and inadequate intelligence. VANETs have raised increasing attention from both academic research and industrial aspects resulting from their important role in driving assistant system. Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks focuses on recent advanced technologies and applications that address network protocol design, low latency networking, context-aware interaction, energy efficiency, resource management, security, human-robot interaction, assistive technology and robots, application development, and integration of multiple systems that support Vehicular Networks and smart interactions. Simulation is a key tool for the design and evaluation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) that take advantage of communication-capable vehicles in order to provide valuable safety, traffic management, and infotainment services. It is widely recognized that simulation results are only significant when realistic models are considered within the simulation tool chain. However, quite often research works on the subject are based on simplistic models unable to capture the unique characteristics of vehicular communication networks. The support that different simulation tools offer for such models is discussed, as well as the steps that must be undertaken to fine-tune the model parameters in order to gather realistic results. Moreover, the book provides handy hints and references to help determine the most appropriate tools and models. This book will promote best simulation practices in order to obtain accurate results.

This is the essential idea of quantitative logic and soft computing. The explanations in the book are complete to provide the necessary background material needed to go further into the subject and explore the research literature. It is suitable reading for graduate students. It provides a platform for mutual exchanges from top experts and scholars around the world in this field.

Security and Privacy Issues in Internet of Medical Things (Paperback): Rajkumar Buyya, Muhammad Imran Tariq, Valentina E.... Security and Privacy Issues in Internet of Medical Things (Paperback)
Rajkumar Buyya, Muhammad Imran Tariq, Valentina E. Balas, Guojun Wang, Radu Prodan
R3,295 Discovery Miles 32 950 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Security and Privacy Issues in Internet of Medical Things addresses the security challenges faced by healthcare providers and patients. As IoMT devices are vulnerable to cyberattacks, and a security breach through IoMT devices may act as a pathway for hackers to enter hospital networks, the book covers a very timely topic. The incorporation of blockchain in the healthcare environment has given birth to the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), which consists of a collection of healthcare systems that espouse groundbreaking technologies. Systems consist of inter-linked sensors, wearable technology devices and clinical frameworks that perform explicit, secure machine-to-machine and cloud platform communications. The significance of IoMT in the field of healthcare is undoubtedly a win-win situation for patients through technology enhancements and a collection of analytics that helps in better diagnosis and treatment. Due to higher accuracy levels, IoMT devices are more reliable in reporting and data tracking and help avoid human errors and incorrect reporting.

Staging Personhood - Costuming in Early Qing Drama (Hardcover): Guojun Wang Staging Personhood - Costuming in Early Qing Drama (Hardcover)
Guojun Wang
R1,272 Discovery Miles 12 720 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

After toppling the Ming dynasty, the Qing conquerors forced Han Chinese males to adopt Manchu hairstyle and clothing. Yet China's new rulers tolerated the use of traditional Chinese attire in performances, making theater one of the only areas of life where Han garments could still be seen and where Manchu rule could be contested. Staging Personhood uncovers a hidden history of the Ming-Qing transition by exploring what it meant for the clothing of a deposed dynasty to survive onstage. Reading dramatic works against Qing sartorial regulations, Guojun Wang offers an interdisciplinary lens on the entanglements between Chinese drama and nascent Manchu rule in seventeenth-century China. He reveals not just how political and ethnic conflicts shaped theatrical costuming but also the ways costuming enabled different modes of identity negotiation during the dynastic transition. In case studies of theatrical texts and performances, Wang considers clothing and costumes as indices of changing ethnic and gender identities. He contends that theatrical costuming provided a productive way to reconnect bodies, clothes, and identities disrupted by political turmoil. Through careful attention to a variety of canonical and lesser-known plays, visual and performance records, and historical documents, Staging Personhood provides a pathbreaking perspective on the cultural dynamics of early Qing China.
