This edited book covers the major aspects of plant growth promoting
bacteria and mechanisms underlining the phenotype in rhizobacteria.
This book guides the researchers about the potential of plant
growth promoting bacteria to be used as biofertilizers. The process
of biofertilizer development and the process of testing its
efficacy for commercial use and the potency is elaborated in this
volume using suitable figures. The information in this book
regarding the secretion of various secondary metabolites
responsible for nutrient management is helpful for designing
bioformulations that assist plant growth. This book provides
substantial number of evidences that underlines the genomic basis
of nutrient management by microbes. Essential information is
provided regarding the genomic and proteomic background of the
biofertilizers. The chapters in the book are divided into three
sections. The first section of the book includes chapter 1-5
outlining the importance of rhizobacteria in elevating the nutrient
levels in soil and augmenting the biotic and abiotic stress. Second
section of the book includes chapter 6-11 elaborating the details
about the biofertilizer, types of biofertilizer available and
techniques involved in mass production of biofertilizers. Section
third covers chapters from 12-15 providing the explicit information
about metabolomics and proteomics basis of plant growth
development. This collective work is distinct as it has focus on
diverse emerging technologies which are high-throughput, scalable
and applicable to different countries regardless of their
socio-economic conditions. This book can improve the current state
of knowledge and invoke researchers and innovators to take ahead
the current inter-disciplinary knowledge into technologies that are
readily available and effectively minimize hazards associated with
chemical fertilizer.

This book highlights some of the most pressing safety, ethical,
legal and societal issues related to the diverse contexts in which
robotic technologies apply. Focusing on the essential concept of
well-being, it addresses topics that are fundamental not only for
research, but also for industry and end-users, discussing the
challenges in a wide variety of applications, including domestic
robots, autonomous manufacturing, personal care robots and drones.
Wearable exoskeletons are electro-mechanical systems designed to
assist, augment, or enhance motion and mobility in a variety of
human motion applications and scenarios. The applications, ranging
from providing power supplementation to assist the wearers to
situations where human motion is resisted for exercising
applications, cover a wide range of domains such as medical devices
for patient rehabilitation training recovering from trauma,
movement aids for disabled persons, personal care robots for
providing daily living assistance, and reduction of physical burden
in industrial and military applications. The development of
effective and affordable wearable exoskeletons poses several
design, control and modelling challenges to researchers and
manufacturers. Novel technologies are therefore being developed in
adaptive motion controllers, human-robot interaction control,
biological sensors and actuators, materials and structures, etc. In
this book, the editors and authors report recent advances and
technology breakthroughs in exoskeleton developments. It will be of
interest to engineers and researchers in academia and industry as
well as manufacturing companies interested in developing new
markets in wearable exoskeleton robotics.
This book contains the Proceedings of the International Conference
on Robot Ethics, held in Lisbon on October 23 and 24, 2015. The
conference provided a multidisciplinary forum for discussing
central and evolving issues concerning safety and ethics that have
arisen in various contexts where robotic technologies are being
applied. The papers are intended to promote the formulation of more
precise safety standards and ethical frameworks for the rapidly
changing field of robotic applications. The conference was held at
Pavilhao do Conhecimento/Ciencia Viva in Lisbon and brought
together leading researchers and industry representatives,
promoting a dialogue that combines different perspectives and
experiences to arrive at viable solutions for ethical problems in
the context of robotics. The conference topics included but were
not limited to emerging ethical, safety, legal and societal
problems in the following domains: * Service/Social Robots: Robots
performing tasks in human environments and involving close
human-robot interactions in everyday households; robots for
education and entertainment; and robots employed in elderly and
other care applications * Mobile Robots: Self-driving vehicles,
autonomous aircraft, trains, cars and drones * Robots used in
medicine and for therapeutic purposes * Robots used in surveillance
and military functions
