'On the bookshelves, there was plenty of stuff on being gay, and
much needed, joyous accounts of what it is to be trans, but nothing
really that encapsulates what is it to be both - to exist in the
hazy terrain between.' After his relationship with his girlfriend
of 5 years ended, Harry realised he was a single adult for the
first time - not only that, but a single, transmasculine and newly
out gay man. Despite knowing it was the right decision, the reality
of his new situation was terrifying. How could he be a gay man,
when he was still learning what it was to be a man? Would the gay
community embrace him or reject him? What would gay sex be like?
And most importantly, would finding love again be possible? In this
raw, intimate and unflinchingly honest book, we follow Harry as he
navigates the sometimes fraught and contradictory worlds of
contemporary gay culture as a trans gay man, from Grindr, dating
and gay bars, to saunas, sex and ultimately, falling in love.
Harry's brave and uplifting journey will show you there is joy in
finding who you are.
This book critically examines how rugby union has developed in
recent years, in nations on the periphery of the sport. Focusing on
people and places on the fringes, it examines contemporary issues
and challenges within the global game. Such a collection is timely,
as the sport's governing body seeks to expand influence and
participation beyond the eight core nations, with the 2019 Rugby
World Cup in Japan being the first time that that tournament has
taken place outside of the core. Presenting case studies from
Europe, Africa, North and South America, Asia and the Middle East,
this collection offers an interdisciplinary account of a sport that
is undergoing a period of significant change. Through examination
of topics such as the development of rugby sevens and the growth of
women's rugby, it considers what the future may hold for the sport.
Rugby in Global Perspective is important reading for students of
sport in society, the globalisation of sport, sports studies, sport
development and associated fields. It is also a valuable resource
for academic researchers working in rugby union or sport in the
peripheral rugby nations, as well as those with an interest in
cultural geography, sociology, development studies, events studies,
event management and sport management.
Originally published in 1990, this account of architectural books
printed in Britain surveys a body of complex literature largely
uncharted in bibliographical terms. It is however, more than a work
of reference, and will fascinate anyone interested in British
cultural and social history, the relationship between Britain and
continental Europe, and the history of the book trade. For each of
the 220 authors covered there is an essay discussing his interests,
the purpose and the genesis of his publications. A detailed
bibliographical description of the author's architectural
publications follows each essay and gives details of the first and
subsequent editions of some four hundred titles. The main body of
the text is preceded by general essays on books on the Orders,
bridges, archaeology, engraving, publishing and bookselling;
manuals of carpentry and design; and pattern-books. There are
detailed indexes.

Grandma Asks: Were You Good at School Today? is addressing the
importance of having good manners at school and treating your
friends with kindness. Grandma is asking her grandson Devon, "Were
you good at school today?" to get him to think and understand the
importance of not getting angry, even if your friend embarrasses
you, and being ready to apologize to your friends if you hurt their
feelings. Grandma Asks... will be a series of upcoming children's
books that will address important issues and concerns of children
that will begin with questions from Grandma. The questions will
cover questions that grandmothers from all walks of life will ask
their grandchildren at one time or another from infancy through
teen years, such as "Did you take your bath?" (addressing the
importance of hygiene) and "Do you love your brand new baby brother
or sister?" (addressing the importance of sibling love and a
connection when a new baby is born).

The problem of development has long been one of the key issues in
biology. With stem-cell therapies on the horizon, the reverse
engineering of developmental programs promises to become a task of
great practical significance. We now understand the general schemes
by which transcriptional networks regulate cellular differentiation
and morphogenesis. These genetic circuits function as complex state
machines which, over the course of development, undergo sequenced
transitions that bring cells to specific end states. A variety of
different gene-expression assays can be used to follow these
transitions. The sensitivity of the assays now in common use limits
the resolution with which we can follow the activity of
genetic-regulatory networks. This thesis describes two projects
aimed at refining an established gene-profiling method,
quantitative RT-PCR, so that it can be used to profile
transcriptional-network states cross-sectionally within developing
cell populations at single-cell resolution. Two advanced qRT-PCR
protocols were developed to support these projects, one based on
microfluidic digital PCR, the other based on multiplexed
pre-amplification PCR.
